Is "you Are The Reason" a good first dance song??

Alexa, on September 23, 2019 at 10:44 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6

We are starting to listen to possible first dance songs, and fell in love with the Calum Scott and Leono Lewis duet of "You Are The Reason". However, after really listening to the lyrics is seems to be more of a break up song instead of something that we should be dancing our first dance to. What is everyone's opinion on this? We love both of their powerful voices in this duet ballad, but I wish just a few lyrics were changed.

I'm not sure I would use it for a first dance. It definitely sounds like a couple that has broken up. Along the lines of that song...have you heard I Get To Love You by Ruelle?

It's definitely a beautiful song, but I think that if you're not too sure about the lyrics and they don't fully apply to what you want your special moment to be, then maybe it's not the right song for your first dance. It's ultimately up to you though!

We almost picked this song!! I won the battle and we went with my favorite song but we are still strongly considering this for one of our parent dances. It is "break-up" ish but to us, we felt it was more "If I ever wronged you I would make it right" kind of way. It's your day if you like it do it! Most people won't be listening that close to the lyrics anyway.

    Hey there Alexa!

Personally, my opinion on choosing a song for a first dance is picking one that speaks to a couple.

Everyone interprets music and lyrics differently. As Jasmin mentioned, they interpreted it in a "If I ever wronged you I would make it right" way.

If you feel iffy about it technically being a break-up song and choose not to go with it, that’s ok too! No right or wrong decision here Smiley smile

I love this song!!! I agree that songs speak to people in different ways. If this is the song you can see yourself dancing to, i say do it. it is a beautiful song.
