Is your dress a "surprise"?

So we all know that most brides keep their dress a surprise from the groom until the day of wedding, but what about everyone else? So far I have only shown pictures of my wedding dress to a select few people, mostly because my mom seemed to feel strongly it should remain a "surprise," even to family...

I'm not sure if I care that much, but it did give me pause! So brides, weigh in - are you keeping photos of your dress to a select few, or showing it to anyone who asks?

I'm keeping it a secret. My mom & Grandma went with me to pick it out and other than that I've only shown my FMIL, my Sister and my hair stylist (She's helping me to pick a style, so I felt that she should see the dress).

So in total besides me only 5 people know what my dress looks like!

I've shown lady family members and close friends but none of the gentleman in my life. My brother is my man of honor so he was there when I purchased it. No fiance, dads, uncles, grandpas. Smiley heart 4 weeks + 1 day to go!

The only ones who have seen pictures of me in my wedding dress when I have tried it on are some ladies in my bridal party and those who are NOT invited to the wedding. I'm looking for the WOW factor, especially since I'm getting married at one of the most naturally beautiful venues in Southeastern, PA!

I'm on a wedding planning wave, since we just got finished our menu planning meeting with @jamcatering. they are so phenomm.

So far I've shown it to our moms, my moh, my niece, my hair and makeup artists, and a few coworkers. So basically the people who were around when I bought it, the people who need to see it to get an idea of what to do for my hair and makeup, and people who wont be at the wedding anyways...

Except for my maids of honor and few of my bridesmaids who were with me when I found my dress and my fittings, I kept it a strict secret from everyone else. I didn't even show my parents or in laws (they couldn't join us for wedding dress shopping and I wanted to keep it on the down low on who has seen it). I liked the idea of a surprise and the buildup of the anticipation since there's that whole 'WOW' moment as you walk down the aisle. It was difficult at times to keep it such a secret from everyone because I absolutely love my dress, but I totally thought it was worth the wait (for me personally)!

I have kept my dress a secret from everyone but my cousin (MOH) and my mom and the ONLY reason I showed them pictures is because I couldn't get them to understand why I wasn't wearing a necklace because of the high neckline when we were jewelry shopping. I didn't want a necklace to take away from the dress.

I'm keeping mine a surprise from FH & guests. I've showed a few people pictures though. It's a pink dress, so I'm excited for it to be a surprise.

For the most part yes. From my FH definitely. My mom and aunt went with me, so they know what it looks like on me, but they are the only ones. Other than that I've shown a few the model pics with it on.

My original intent was to keep it a surprise until my mom showed all of my relatives 😂 It doesn’t matter much though because im not “put together” and about 30 lbs heavier in the photos she showed. So although they have an idea of what I’ll be wearing, my entire look will still be a surprise on the day of. Fh however has not seen it all and I hope he loves it as much as I do!

Thanks! Yea I've noticed the are a lot of people on this app who seem to think there is only one right way to do things when it comes to weddings. I think that's just so silly. It's your wedding, who cares what anyone else thinks, just do what you want. I know so many people who were so unhappy with their weddings bc they tried to make everyone else happy instead of just doing what they wanted themselves. My future brother and sister in law left their own reception early bc they were just over it and they left early for their honeymoon instead. I have no interest in being stressed and not enjoy my own wedding. You'll never make everyone happy anyway so just do what makes you happy. That's my whole outlook on life, but especially for your wedding.

I've shown the inspiration dress and the actual fabric to my mom, MOH, and DOC (close cousin). My dress is still being made, so I haven't even seen it yet. The first fitting is supposed to be next month. It'll be hard, but I think I'm going to keep it a secret from everyone.

I’ve pretty much shown everyone I work with (which as a nurse , is a large amount of females!). I’ve sent the pictures to only a few and I will show pretty much anyone that asks. I just feel like I draw the line at sending the pictures to someone that I know might send them to someone else/show someone I don’t really want to see.

Definitely a surprise. I've shared the dress with my sisters who are my bridesmaids. In having the dress altered into a jumpsuit. No one will see the finalized piece except whoever is at the final fitting with me. I'm also not doing a first look because I'd rather have the aww from the aisle.
