isle decor necessary?

Jenna, on August 14, 2012 at 10:21 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 20

I'm running out of money, FAST! We're paying for our wedding alone.

My wedding is in 19 days, and I still don't have isle decorations. Is it even necessary?

I don't think so and we are not planning to have it (just one more thing to get rid of after the ceremony). If you feel like you want to have something, maybe just do it on the family rows. My brother and SIL did this and it looked nice for the photos.

We're getting married on a balcony at a PGA golf course overlooking a large pond and the course. White folding padded chairs.

Thanks. My MOH/ sister thinks I need something, but I already have so many DIY projects to finish that I don't want to do another! Smiley smile

We are getting married outside. Thankfully our venue is letting us use some columns that they have and I will be getting some white rose petals to put along the sides of the aisle, since im not using a runner. My florist is charging us $5 a bag for the petals and said we should only need 2 or 3 bags of them. So that's my "budget" aisle decor. Smiley smile

No, you really don't need them. But in case you change your mind, here are some relatively inexpensive options:

You could just do a couple for the first rows, but again it's not a must.

Not needed at all, but if you really want something think outta the box. I will be lining my aisle with lemons, which are about 20 cents a piece!

Jenna, I agree with a lot of the other ladies in that you do not NEED something. However, there are certainly some inexpensive options if you do want something. Do you have a wedding theme/colors? Maybe we could help you think of something based on that?

@Katy W! How creative! I love the simplicity!

Here is a really inexpensive and easy decoration - just line either side of the aisle where you are walking with petals! No DIY needed and looks great! With the beautiful backdrop I don't really think you need anything though.

My florist said that could be the first thing to go because 90% of the pics taken at the ceremony are of the party walking in and you guys up at the alter. So really, purely for what will look good years from now when all you have is pictures, it's not necessary.

I totally do not think this is necessary. Im not doing it. I've saved up some vases patients left behind and am going to cut some of FMIL's hydrageas that morning to put in the church but no aisle decor

We are doing a backyard wedding and not quite sure where the aisle will be so not sure if we will need one at this point. If I do an aisle runner, it will be with my white pumpkin theme, so maybe white baby pumpkins with a little glitter on either side of the aisle. But in answer to your question, I don't think it's entirely necessary.

My colors are red, sage, pink & tan. All mildly used. I know it sounds weird, but it all looks really good together. Smiley smile

I don't have a set theme other than simplicity. I like clean, minimal looks. Although we do have one bird on each table and are using 2 birds as the only decor on the cake.

Baby's Breath is CHEAP! you could tie just a small bushel to everyother chair.

I aslo think petals are pretty

Go to the Dollar Tree and buy 25ft tulle and fake flowers to drape from chair to chair down the aisle and add a small bunch of fake flowers to every row or every other row. Super cheap and easy!!

Katy, I did consider baby's breath in paper cones.

Jenny, I didn't know the DT had tulle! I've been needing to buy some buy I don't want to spend that much! Smiley smile now I just wish they had burlap for my table runners and sheer fabric for my ceremony! I'm draping it over everyone during the ceremony for shade tied to balloons so it "floats". I'm getting it from Walmart fabrics section.

It really depends on your setting; some churches and temples are so magnificent or so beautifully simple that they don't need a thing. Outdoors is, well, outdoors! Simple petals spread over the walkway may just be enough. Don't stress over it; you'll be in that setting for a half an hour and then gone.
