ISO mismatched China plates and an affordable cost.

Kiersten, on November 27, 2016 at 9:46 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 17

I am on the search for mismatched China at an affordable cost. If anyone is selling any please let me know! I am looking to have a guest list of about 200 so any and all dishes will help. Also I am on a strict budget which is why I am not renting the items, because it just out of my price range.

Have you checked Goodwill, Salvation Army, or thrift stores? That (or yard sales) might be your best bet

Honestly, renting them will likely be cheaper than buying them. Also, what are you going to do with 200 mismatched plates after your wedding?

A guest list of 200 and a strict budget? That's going to be a tall order.

In my area, we have a woman who rents mismatched china and everything needed for a wedding with a theme like that. She started the business because she wanted it for her wedding and couldn't find it - do you have a local FB group you could ask in?

They may have more information about a local place to find it easier or if they've used it in the past they may have local tips.

Check Craigslist and watch for estate sales in your area. Thrift and antique stores will also be gold mines for you. Good luck!

Haha well I have just started my hunt for the plates, and surprisingly found a ton at goodwill, but a far stretch from the 200 I need. I have found a rental company that is priced very fair but it doesn't include anything except the dishes...meaning pick up,set up, and cleaning are all on me. I figured if I am going to spend that kind of money and still have to do all the labor I might as well own the plates. I am not completely opposed to renting I just haven't found a reasonable company.

Borrow them from a church. My church has a ton of random china, we never use it. We literally just boxed it up and put it in the church basement.

Luckily you have a little under 2 years to collect!

Goodwill, ARC, Savers. Some Saturdays are 50% off the entire store, and if you go every week/month/whatever, you are bound to build up enough.

Look to see if you have a goodwill outlet center nearby. We have one and everything is cheaper. You have a while to look. Keep an eye out for which sticker color is on sale at goodwill. Make a post on craigslist and hit up yard sales. Good luck.

I bought my 200 from the goodwill! I paid .50-$2 per plate and spent a few months collecting. I had them mismatch on each table. I plan on picking a set for myself and re selling the rest
