It seems that everyone has a disagreement with the decisions that I have made and say that I will regret it later. And my mother in law has shown absolute disgust with the dress I have picked… I just feel frustrated and upset. I don’t feel like I have the support that I need from my family. Any insights or helpful tips?

Unfortunately something about weddings makes the worst in people come out. After hearing complaints from my MIL about literally everything from how far she'd have to travel (less than an hour) to telling us we needed to remove mushrooms from every single item on our menu because she doesn't like them (not allergic or anything) we just stopped telling her stuff. My grandma straight up told me she didn't love my dress as I was saying it was the one, and my mom spent our "celebration" lunch after telling me ways I need to lose weight so I'd actually look good.

I've really learned during this time to just rely on my FH and get support from him. We're the ones paying for the large majority of our wedding, so it's really just not their place to say anything. At the end of the day, any decision you made that you didn't want to get rid of you won't regret. Everyone has their own vision of what a wedding should look like, and your vision is the perfect one for your own wedding. Do your best to try and brush off the mean comments and opinions and stick to what sounds good to you.

I completely agree… which is so sad because the point of it is to bring two families into one and is supposed to be a joyous occasion.. but I am so sorry that you are having to deal with family issues as well. No body deserves that and I am very glad you can rely on your FH! That’s amazing and I hope he helps you during this time!
I wish you the best and I hope things get better!
