Items to Put in Out of Town Guest Bags

Private User, on July 16, 2013 at 1:48 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 14

I would like to have bags ready at the hotel for all of our out of town guests but i'm not sure what should be put in there. Some blogs that I looked at said that food items that are special to the area would be a good idea because it allows our guests to experience the taste of whatever city...but Tulsa, OK doesn't have anything I could think of that's special.

HELP PLEASE WEDDING IS SEPTEMBER 14, 2013!

Bottled water, beer or wine, a salty snack, a chocolatey snack, some maps/info about nearby restaurants. Personalized soaps or lip balms.

Check out some boutiques off Main Street-every town has them. Hand made hair clips with western flair, book marks that are OK themed, multi-purpose key chains. All kinds of nifty nick-knacks that usually feature the name of the city can be found, and are small and inexpensive enough to go in a welcome bag Smiley winking

I'm still not sure if I'm going to do bags for out of towners yet.

I am doing baskets filled with bottled water, peanuts, crackers, pretzels, chocolates, gum and little debbies. I also have door hangers, directions to the venue and a thank you note from myself and my FH.

We've been trying to think of good, inexpensive stuff to include without making it seem cheap. So far, I've found 2 pack lint rollers at Target for $1 (in the bins near the front door), tissues, 2 pack Advils for headaches (amazon has 50 packs for $13), water, gum, and small bags of chips and definitely a thank you note. I think in total our bags will be about $5 including the cost of the bag (which I got at AC Moore 15 for $3.99)

I'm doing water bottles, crystal light packets, a brochure with wedding info and stuff to do in the area, gum, a couple of homemade cookies, and hopefully a map of the area (if I can find a cheap one from the tourist center.)

Some ideas: Water bottles with personalized labels, granola bars, hand sanitizer, maps of the area, mints or gum, Tylenol, lotion, candy bars, note from the couple, list of restaurants in the area, directions to the wedding/event, tums. Hope these ideas help.

I think most of my ideas have been mentioned already, but I'm thinking a bottle of wine, 2 bottles of water, packets of Advil, a salty snack (probably individual bags of chips or Goldfish), and homemade cookies.

We're doing a bunch of the aforementioned but also adding a coffee mug from our state along with Air Force/Army souvenirs (mixed family lol).

Awesome suggestions! thanks for the thread Smiley smile this was going to be my next question! wish i could subscribe to this thread...

so far i was going to put maps and brochures of the area, bottles of water (with a crafty label created by moi and my cricut :p) individual bags of trail mix (but I am liking the granola bar idea!), sand dollars with the wedding date... then i ran out of ideas... I never thought of gum and tylenol ect! I was maybe going to put some of those airplane sized liquors in there... :o

ETA also some chocolates from our local choco shop!

Mini liquor bottles are always welcome! Maybe even the mini bottles of barefoot wine..?

Or the Starbucks via packets with miniature baileys or kahlua?

Thank you so much for these ideas! I really love the state coffee mug idea as we have family coming in from out of state and country. I hadn't planned on doing these bags, but now think they are a great way to make sure that those relatives that are not able to stay in personal homes still get a personal family touch. This is definitely a wonderful way to show our gratitude that they traveled from great distances.
