It's official - Target registries suck!

Really, they do. Do your guests a favor and register somewhere else. My friend had her baby shower this weekend. I went to 2 Targets in the area, and those kiosks with registries didn't work. So one Target employee said "If you have a smart phone, you can find the registry online". Well, duh,...

My friend had her baby shower this weekend. I went to 2 Targets in the area, and those kiosks with registries didn't work. So one Target employee said "If you have a smart phone, you can find the registry online". Well, duh, Einstein, and then how will the items come off the registry?

So I went back home and printed it out, hoping nobody buys stuff in the meantime. After about 4 hours after the purchase, the items were still on the registry. So I talked to someone in their registry help department who barely spoke English and asked me 18 million security questions, and things were finally marked as purchased. Yay.

FWIW, no, I did not bitch to my pregnant friend.

^ Paris's post: That's one of the things that is really irksome about it -- some of the reviews you read are from a few years back. Target is big enough that they should put some effort into making sure their registry works correctly.

Particularly with the return duplicates issue -- their policy works against a bride/mom to be since they won't have receipts for the items, but the registry isn't removing items from the list in any kind of a timely fashion, if at all.

If you happen to check your registry for some reason, yeah, you can correct that, but how many people would realistically think to verify their registry following their shower? Or, more importantly, *before* their shower to make sure it's actually up to date?

I’m getting married on 6/15/13, my first wedding shower is on 4/5/13 and the second is on 5/5/13 (I think). Anyhow, Target deleted my registry about a month ago. No reason, just deleted it. I lost everything and had to re-register. I was pretty upset, so now my Target registry is about 3 pages, so maybe 15 gifts maybe 20. My Kohl’s registry is buffed up to like 50 presents for showers/wedding and then my Amazon list is I think 21 things? I have 150-250 people. I’m sending out the invites next week so I’ll have a head count for sure then. UGHHHH. I dislike Target.

Wow. I am seriously rethinking registering at Target now. I wanted to do it because I know that it's a more popular store and even my OOT guests will be able to get something from the registry. Now I'm not sure where else I can turn to. But thank you for the warning.

@Shelley, check out Amazon's registry and Bed, Bath and Beyond -- at least where I'm at, there's a BB&B just about as often as there is a Target. And Amazon is super easy for all to use, usually offers free shipping and keeps track of who bought what for you so you can easily send thank you notes.

They do suck. Unfortunately, I didn't heed others' advice and stay away. I should have, because it was the biggest pain in the butt. Oh well.

Wow, I have never had problems with them! Occasionally a kiosk will be down but they always print them for us if it is. I registered there and while I havent recieved some of the stuff that was checked off as being bought, it has been correct for what we have recieved as being checked off as purchased. Sucks that so many people have problems with them!

So glad I registered at BB&B this past weekend. I was seriously considering Target until I read some reviews by WW Ladies. And I love Target. They need to fix this problem! ASAP!
