Married for a week and I've been commenting on posts since we only took a short getaway (honeymoon will be after my school year ends - this teacher cannot wait for June!!).. but now there have been enough pictures shared by friends and family that I can't wait any longer to share them with you!

Note to exchange before the ceremonycfb_926034.jpg

My cousin (and BM) brought me coffee from my favorite local shop - and, making an appearance, the hoodie with my new monogram that I wore while getting ready!cfb_926036.jpg

Some of my ladies getting ready at my parents house while others did their hair in a different roomcfb_926038.jpg

My dad texted me to look outside at the flower arrangements as everything was getting set up.. by the time I got the message, I found him practicing what he would say during the ceremony. He's our pastor and officiated the wedding! I'm so glad I caught this sweet moment!cfb_926040.jpg

The one "matching" gift I got all my girls - monogrammed tumblers! Especially exciting for my cousin getting married in May - she has something with her new initials, now!cfb_926042.jpg

I couldn't stop grinning once I stepped out of the manor and onto the patio where I saw all of our guests and heard my song playing ("Here, There, and Everywhere" by the Beatles)cfb_926046.jpg

And one from the backcfb_926052.jpg

My mom.. so beautifulcfb_926056.jpg

We could not have asked for a more gorgeous day!!cfb_926054.jpg

Pronounced husband and wife! cfb_926058.jpg

The reception was held in a barn beyond the backyard garden spacecfb_926060.jpg

DH is from South Jersey, so his godmother made a table with Johnson's popcorn bins and salt water taffy as a nod to his hometowncfb_926064.jpg

Instead of cake, we had a cookie table with over a dozen different types, made in bulk by different friends and family members.. it was a hit! We had a cheesecake to share as it's what we had for dessert on our first date (even from the same restaurant!)cfb_926076.jpg

Sweetheart tablecfb_926082.jpg

First dance to "You've Got a Friend in Me" (cover by Sleeping at Last)cfb_926084.jpg

My parents danced while the other tables were dismissed to get their food (taco bar!) - it shocked everyone because my dad is NOT a dancer!cfb_926086.jpg

Family picture with my new in-laws!cfb_926088.jpg

The barn had a deck for extra seating and the views were spectacular! DH also set up a cigar bar (he worked at a cigar shop for 4 years and became quite the connoisseur) so people were out there all night! cfb_926090.jpg

Our DOC took this picture of us after we stole away with our photographer and videographer to capture some special moments at sunset. Cannot WAIT to get those back!cfb_926092.jpg

This pretty much sums up the dancing portion of the night.. we had a blast!cfb_926098.jpg

Snapchat filters were pretty cheap, so, naturally we invested.cfb_926102.jpg

No good pictures of our exit, but here's the cabin on the property where we spent our first night as a married couple! The venue director lives on the property as well, and made us breakfast the following morning, delivered in a picnic basket. So so special.cfb_926106.jpg

Next day shot with our rings.. it's so weird to look over and see the ring on his finger! Mine has sapphires and diamonds, incorporating both of our birthstones.cfb_926108.jpg

All in all, we can't think of a single thing that went wrong during the day. Our venue director and day of coordinator kept things running smoothly and were amazing at communicating to us and our family/bridal party where people needed to go. I think the biggest thing we were impressed with is the fact that they made us sit down at our sweetheart table and brought us plates of food so we'd have guaranteed time together to eat and take it all in. I think aside from how sacred our ceremony felt, that was probably my favorite part of the day.

I'll save advice and other musings for when it's time to share pro pictures, but until then... remember to enjoy the ride! At the end, you're married to your best friend and you get to spend the rest of your lives together. It's all worth it!

Big question? How did you manage the logistics with your dad? He walked you down the aisle then what? Like how did he move into position? Do you have any video of that moment? My dad's my officiant too and im looking for ideas of how to pull it off smoothly...

You are too too sweet! I’ve loved seeing other people’s BAM posts and I couldn’t wait to share my own. I slaved over a lot of the details in the final week a little more than I should have, but I couldn’t have been more thrilled to see how everything came together exactly as I had pictured. It wasn’t just my own work but thanks to all the people who offered to help and gave so generously of their time and resources.. I felt like the wedding wasn’t just a representation of the love between DH and I - it extended out to include our guests and all the ways they supported us as we prepared! I hope you can see those same types of results on your big day. All the work is SO worth it, but be sure to give yourself some breaks, too. And be willing to accept help when it’s offered, as long as you feel comfortable! Smiley smile

Thank you so much! I’m so excited to share the day with everyone - especially after all the hard work that we’re all going through to make our days so special. It truly was an amazing day and I couldn’t stop remarking about how incredible it was to have the collection of people gathered all to celebrate our union.. I felt humbled and overjoyed all at once. I can’t wait to see more pictures and share more with you all about what made the day so much fun! Smiley smile

You’re so right.. he’s a special guy! I’m his only daughter (though he always joked around my brothers that I’m his “Good Son”), so we all were anticipating nonstop waterworks throughout the ceremony. He held it together, though! He did go off his script and talked about how I was an answer to prayer (before me, my mom wanted a girl so she wouldn’t be outnumbered anymore) and then addressed DH to tell him that he was an answer to my parents’ prayer for the type of man they hoped I would marry. It was incredibly heartfelt and special. I can’t imagine anyone else conducting our ceremony!

Such a good question!! I wondered this myself for a long time.. I had always known I would want my dad to officiate! Thankfully, DH’s best man just got ordained last year to be an associate pastor at his church, so we asked him if he would open the ceremony. He stood up front when we came in, he opened the service and when my dad said that he and my mom were giving me away, he stepped to his right so DH could take his place. He went around DH toward the groomsmen and up on the platform while the best man stepped into his position and passed off the notebook my dad typically reads notes from. It took a little working out at the rehearsal, but it was pretty seamless at the real thing!
Is your dad also a pastor? Are there any associate pastors at your church that could open the ceremony like our best man did?
