Jazzing up a standard hotel / banquet hall / ballroom centerpiece?

irin997, on October 5, 2010 at 3:24 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 14

So our venue is a hotel ballroom and they provide a fairly standard centerpiece with a hurricane globe w/tapered candle and votives and holders for the tables. I would like to utilize as much FREE/included stuff as possible but I would like to make these a bit more of our own versus standard. We can't afford floral centerpieces, at least we don't think so, so do you have any suggestions for jazzing up these basic centerpieces? Thanks!

How about some sort of ring to go around the base of the hurricane lamp? Maybe a colored linen?

What are your colors? What is your theme?

I was also going to suggest a silk floral candle ring for beneath them. I have found I can do wonders with candle rings. If you shop at Michaels or AC Moore, they usually have coupons weekly.

    Good luck!

Ummm, no theme yet and I'm not exactly sure I will have one, but I'm tossing around a few color schemes. My current is DB canary dresses for the BM's and bouquets of the bright pink gerbera daisys with some light yellow flowers and cream/ivory roses. So bright pink and yellow....today...lol.

Something like this is pretty and kind of conveys the color scheme I may be looking at.

Of the basic centerpiece? No, but let me see if I can compile something for you...

OK this is pretty much it, except instead of the pillar it's a tapered candle. I like the pillar better and may use those instead. I also plan on getting a quote from a florist on some floral centerpieces or maybe they can do fresh floral rings?

Sorry the pic is super tiny.

You could always purchase colored candles to use, that would be realitively inexpensive. Or you could do floating candles with colored rocks in the bottom and add some food coloring to the water....There are tons of possibilities that wouldn't break the bank.

You could scatter flower petals around it. Or have one floating flower so it's not so expensive.

This site has silk candle rings for $3 or less. Most are around $1.59. I've ordered from them before, and they are very affordable and delivery is timely. http://www.crafta.com/candle-rings.html
