Jealousy of Pictures

VC, on June 30, 2017 at 12:14 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 19

Just a blah post. Just saw my brother's engagement shots with his fiance who is going to be married in 2 months and I must say I am totally jealous of their pictures. Theirs are tens times better than mine lol.

I swear I wish I had their pictures.

Anyways I am happy for them either way.

Now I am nervous about getting my wedding pics back, I hope I love them just as much!

Did anyone feel that way?

I don't have any engagement pics yet and obviously not wedding either but I get really nervous when I see beautiful photos because I hope mine meet my expectations. I have looked up people's photographers and they are much more expensive than what I can afford Smiley sad I really like the photographer we're talking to right now so fingers crossed!

You will love them. I saw some pics from your wedding and I thought they were phenomenal. I worry when I see everyone's pictures if mine will look half as good

Thanks. I guess it;s also different expectations and maybe what we ended up getting.

Like their setting and feel is something I wanted but it didn't turn out for engagements.

But I know for our wedding it will be a very different feel as ours is more urban and less soft (even though that is the feeling I like in pictures) but the venue and location dictated the look more.

But yeah I am currently happy with my pictures from the sneak peek. But part of me thinks if I was more prepared or thought things through maybe my pictures could have looked like that.

    Oh well...

I get a twinge of jealousy over beautiful engagement photos, and over videography. Those are elements I chose to save on, and as a result I have e-shots that are cute but not dazzling, and a video that captures everything but is nothing special and I really don't love. Sometimes I feel sad that I didn't put more into those things, but I try to remind myself that I chose to put my money and effort into other areas that were more important to me, and focus on why I made that choice. I remind myself that I was able to provide transportation for our guests on the day, we were able to help my in-laws with their travel costs, we hosted a really nice rehearsal dinner, welcome drinks, after party, and day-after brunch.... and those experiences for my guests are what mattered to me more than having e-pics to look back on. You may not have put all your effort into your e-pics, but I am totally positive you had a gorgeous, well hosted, amazing wedding that your guests will remember for a long time.

Hell yeah. I like a few of my e-pics, but some of the pics I see on here are just breathtaking and it makes me a little sad, and makes me wish I was more photogenic.

I haven't gotten my wedding pics back yet (should be any day now) but I'm worried I'm going to feel the same about those.

    Bleh Smiley sad

Yeah WWJo you are right. It's all perspective and where you put your money. I know my brother's wedding budget is almost double ours and I know he spent more on Photography/Video so I guess there's that lol.

I feel this way. My wedding day couldn't have gone any better, but a family friend who was a really good photographer (so we thought) took my photos on the wedding day along with his assistant and I did get some nice shots, but not as many as I had hoped as many were blurry and disappointing. My bff got some amazing pics taken, and I'm happy for her, but can't help but wish I had more getting ready shots and I never even got a full shot of my mom and me while she put me in the dress. I'm just so upset to this day but what can you do? I have a lovely video and we had more pics done in Chicago and Florida, but it still doesn't make up for the actual day.

I get super jealous of some of the pics on here, but mostly because all i can think about are my fat arms and double chin that always pop out in pictures. Then I tell myself to get over it or do something about it, and I'm just envious of the photographers that some have that I definitely cannot afford. I think we all go through this.

P.S. Your pics were beautiful @VC, I'm sure you will be very happy!

I had some e-pic envy.... a friend of mine was engaged 8 months after me and her FH hired a photographer for the proposal and they immediately did their entire engagement shoot minutes after the proposal. her photos were stunning and we didn't do our shoot until another 4 months after that so I was a little jealous and anxious to see what we'd get. but i love our photographer and we ended up getting great photos, we just took our sweet time to do the shoot.

I feel the same way, I have not taken e-pics yet, but I see everyone else's and I start to worry about mine and how they will turn out, I am hoping for the best. My FH's brother and his wife had beautiful wow pictures for their engagement, wedding, and follow up shots. I can't help but be a little jealous when I see them. Their photag was out if our price range though.

I totally understand. my dad passed away shortly before we had our e-pics done and i could not bring myself to care about them. my hair isn't great (needed a cut/color) and my nails were chipped (though not obvious in the photos), and i wish i had bought a different bra to wear under my dress.... we probably should have moved them back, but it was a challenge we don't live in the same state as our wedding, and they were included as part of our photography package for the wedding. the photographer herself was good, i just don't how i look. i know on my wedding day i'll be in a much better frame of mind, plus professionally done hair and makeup won't hurt.

We got an "elopement" package from our photographer, so we used a different, amateur photographer for our e-pics. And........you can tell she's an amateur! I mean, we only paid $150, and we did get a few really cute photos, but a few were just off. Like, if she had told us to move slightly or gave us some more direction, we would have been there. We also aren't small people and she gave us some poses that were clearly not well suited to us. But you get what you pay for! We are still happy with them but I am a little more anxious for the wedding ones now since we haven't worked with our photographer. But I follow them on instagram and their blog, and I'm always amazed at the pictures. We told them to boss us around so we can get good pictures, so I'm cautiously optimistic!

Same. I was so freaking nervous in mine, FH was perfect because he didn't give a crap. I was uptight and you can tell. I can only hope for our wedding I am nice and liquored up so I am not so tense.

I didn't get the engagement or wedding pictures that I wanted but, I'm glad that we have pictures at all. We rescheduled our engagement pictures three times due to weather and ended up taking them in crappy weather anyways. They were supposed to have the Denver city skyline in the background but, it snowed every time we scheduled the shoot. Everyone says they were cute pics but, I was disappointed. Our wedding pictures ended up being rushed & we don't really have any great ones of just us together but, I have memories and got to marry the man that I love so, I'm ok with it now. No matter what you do, someone is always going to out do you in some way. An easy way to get past it is to realize that it's not about the pics, the cake, the honeymoon or the dress or venue but, about your love for one another!

I haven't even gotten married yet and I have a feeling my photographer won't take the kind of pictures I want :/ I'm jealous of everyone's pictures and I haven't even taken mine yet! Haha. I was happy with my engagement pictures though.
