Jehovahs Witness/catholic Ceremony

M Juliette, on April 28, 2018 at 6:20 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 6
I’m marrying a JW and I’m having a hard time putting together a ceremony. He and I agreed on a beautiful ceremony script together but just recently found out that we can’t have a Christian priest...I want a wedding based off God. I don’t really want a civil ceremony. Anyone have advice?

Can you not have him due to the clash in each religion?

Can you have a prayer during the reception?

I've heard a lot of Catholic priests won't marry a couple if both aren't Catholic. A coworker of mine did manage to find a Catholic priest who agreed to marry her and her non Catholic husband so there are some out there, just have to see if you can find one. Another option is talking a United Church in the area you want to marry. They will marry you. There won't be a Eucharist and the ceremony isn't as long as a Catholic ceremony.

Most Catholic priests will marry a mixed-religion couple if you complete all of the premarital counseling requirements - this is what my non-Catholic husband and I did a few months ago. However, they will usually only do it in a Catholic church with a Catholic mass, which is where you might run into a problem if your SO does not want this.

Do you mean you can’t have a CATHOLIC priest? Or a Christian minister who’s not Jehovah’s Witness?

I’m a little confused as to why you have to have a civil, rather than religious, ceremony. Can you give more details?

Catholic priests will marry you if you agree to raise any kids catholic and complete pre-cana.

You could look into a non-denominational reverend and work with them to write your ceremony.

Have you spoken to your priest and his clergy? In order to have a sacramental marriage while being respectful of your FH's beliefs you will need to meet with both churches to seek direction.
