Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers?

Michelle P, on June 10, 2012 at 5:26 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 24

Have any of you ladies/or men used these programs? I know Jenny supplies there special calorie food but it doesn't look that appetizing to me, for people who was on it is it really that bad? I wanna know if you were happy with these company's and if is was easy to loose weight on their programs? as I want/need to loose weight but not able to do it on my own. I need a push and someone to always keep me going. I would go to the gym but membership is to expensive as are the personal trainers. That's why I'm thinking of going on one of these weight loss programs & I want to know which is better? Jenny VS Weight Watchers.

Thanks!

I'd definitely say weight watchers! Bc you can regular food just have to cut back and you can eat as much fruit and vegetables as you want! My grandma and a few others in my family has used weight watchers and lost a lot of weight doing it! But you have to do a little exercise along with it like walking for 30 mins or so..

I lost 78 lbs (over 2 years, I also have a metabolic disorder) with Weight Watchers, and I've maintained the loss for 4 months so far. My mother and best friend have both lost upwards of 30 lbs with WW. I'd seriously recommend it to anyone who asks.

I am on Weight Watchers right now and have tried every other diet possible and it is the first one that I have been able to stick to and not feel deprived and miserable. Also I don't feel like an outcast when I am hanging out with friends. I feel like Jenny Craig would make you feel awkward and not able to participate in real life Smiley smile

Weight Watchers all the way! I got to my goal weight on weight watchers, and barely felt like I was dieting. I know a lot of people who have tried Jenny Craig and were successful, but as soon as they stopped eating the provided food they gained the weight back. Weight Watchers is a lifestyle change, Jenny Craig is a diet. WW teaches you how to eat so that you can maintain your weight loss for life.

@Amanada, that's why I'm kinda leaning towards WW because you can regular food but better portions etc... I love my fruit but to much of it is also not good for your teeth right? Oh, I know with any lifestyle change/diet you can't just make the adjustments with your eating you need to also work out to make weight loss fully effective.

@Maggie - You bring up some good points with Jenny your only supposed to eat their food right? well, what would I do if I went out with friends or FH cheat a little? lol I would have to smallest cal dish which usually isn't the best tasting haha! well know the higher the calories the better the taste.

@B'Loved - WOW! good for them, seems like it's really working for them Smiley smile

@Kristen, Congrats! you got to your goal and that is also what I'm worried about after I loose the amount I want to and finish the food & start eating "regular food" but in a better way, I'm afraid I will gain the weight back which is something I DON'T want to happen.

Thanks, ladies for your advice. Seems like WW trumps JC & I'm gonna contact someone from WW to get more info on their program Smiley smile

My mom was on Jenny Craig back in the day so I have had some of the food and it's honestly not that great. I've heard nothing but good things about WW. I wouldn't want to be limited on what food I can eat.

I say weight watchers. I tried nutrisystem(kinda like jenny craig), and it makes having a social life weird, because your supposed to eat specific food. With weight watchers you eat normal food.

I have not done either plan, but my guess would be Weight Watchers, as you are eating real food, not a plan that is not only pre-made, but I am sure more expensive than WW plan would be.

Truly, the key is to learn to eat real food, in real situations, not pre-packaged things.

I've done both WW & JC. I lost 40 pounds with JC. I think the decision depends on your lifestyle. With WW you will spend time prepping your food and learning portion control, etc. They do have frozen meals (Smart ones) but they are very high in sodium. If you don't like to prepare food and want more convenience JC is the way to go. Their food is very tasty (frozen food) but I don't care for the pantry foods. They ask you to go by a specific weekly menu in the beginning to get you to try the variety of food but then you can basically pick your own menu. I definately do better with accountability so whatever you do you whether it be WW or JC make sure the program requires you to weigh in and talk to a counselor once a week. the ladies at JC are very supportive and give great tips and advice. Contrary to what most people think, you can do meals "on your own", so you don't have to give up your social life. I hope this helps.

I vote WW all the way. You'll learn how to eat, as opposed to having to buy all of the food from JC

I was a skeptic of the Weight Watchers until I joined and I have lost 30 pounds since January. You can eat whatever you want but stay within your points. You get a daily point number and then a weekly number to help you budget for eating out and bday cake, etc. Nothing is more motivational than my wedding dress coming in on September 3rd!!!!

There is a great article on Jenny Craig in the NYTimes magazine this Sunday. You can access it online at www.NYTimes.com; it's called, French Women Worry about Getting Fat Too.

WW is better and have lost weight on there but have not kept it off cause I don't think they teach you how to eat the right nutritious food since you can eat any junk as long as u stay within points. I highly recommend "Eat clean Diet" by Tosca Reno... its really more of a lifestyle change not a diet. and start walking or doing at home work out videos to save money I love the Jillian michaels 90 day body revolution. goodluck
