Joint Bachelor-bachelorette "parties" - anyone else?

catobx, on March 27, 2018 at 11:25 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 19

Hey everyone!

Stepping away from my dress drama for a hot second, as it is a. looking like we can come to a resolution soon and b. my anxiety is through the roof about it.

Has anyone here ever done or will be doing a joint bachelor-bachelorette thing? We are doing a long weekend beach getaway in the Outer Banks in July and I cannot. wait. Last year, FH andI traveled there with my Matron of Honor and her husband, FH had never been, and he fell in love with it. We had an absolute blast. So, with most of the bridal/groom parties not being familiar with each other, we thought it would be awesome to just rent a house for four days, lay around on the beach, grill out, go kayaking, etc. (plus it has a private pool!) Only a handful of people will be able to make it, as most of our parties are out of state, but so far we have about 10 people. I was just totally uninterested in going to a male strip club or hitting a bar and downing shots (sorry, my body can't handle that anymore haha).

Anyone else have a joint party experience? What did you do? Any fun activities to recommend? Can't wait to hear your stories and plans! XO

I think that's awesome. Maybe one day go to brunch and the spa with the girls and another day the guys do something they like? That way you get the fun getaway together, but also get to have fun with just the girls!

Sounds like fun! We probably won't get to do a bachelor/bachelorette party since our entire wedding party is out of state.. I was thinking about doing a day trip somewhere, no electronics, just us and the kids since we are leaving for the honeymoon 2 days after the wedding. It will be a week without the kids, and I go crazy without them!!

This is kind of random, but my fiance is a DJ. He booked a party at our favorite neighborhood dive bar. He got his friends in on the gig. It's called " jack and Jill went up the hill to hear the base better". This is something he really wanted to do! We will invite all of our friends and have a blast listening to music together Smiley winking

I haven’t ever thought about doing a joint bachelor/bachelorette party but it does sound like it would be fun to do. Beach houses are always a good time

We hadn’t planned to do bach parties (honestly every weekend of my late 20s was basically a bachelorette party!) and he honestly really doesn’t have many friends, like barely at all. By a joint party might be kinda fun, we’d just go out to a bar through and have everyone meet us.

My fiancé and I slightly did that for ours. The biggest thing I will say though, is make sure to spend time away!! I was not about it to begin with, and sure as hell wasnt about not sleeping with him that night (we live together already.) that being said. They planned it for us with us staying at the same hotel. We started with brunch all together and then we separated. Girls went to the pool. Boys went to the beach bar. Girls went to dinner somewhere. Boys went to a different restaurant. We met up a little later on again. And then we each slept in the same room as our gm or bm. I only have 3 bm, so it worked perfectly for us. The gm rented a suit.

In the end I am so happy about it! Being able to have “girl time” was so much needed and I didn’t even know!! So my point, just make sure to definitely have one event without the other there, and don’t sleep together for one night!

We are thinking of doing a joint bach party because our wedding party is almost solely composed of our siblings. BMs: my 2 sisters who are younger but close in age to me, a close friend, and FHs sister (she’ll be 14). GM: FHs 3 brothers who are all younger than him, and a close friend. Everyone in our families really likes board games, so are thinking about doing a game night. No one from either side will have met the others, so we definitely want everyone to be able to hang out. We might include everyone’s SOs as well since it’s so casual and it’s a DW in Mexico. 3/4 bridesmaids will be engaged or married by then, but I have no idea about the groomsmen. They are all still a bit young and only one currently has an girlfriend. Regardless, I’m sure we’ll come up with something fun.

I haven't been to one yet, but this past weekend we met a group that was at a hockey game for their bachelor/bachelorette party. They put their names on the jumbotron and everything. 😀 sounds like a ton of fun!

My friend had one. The girls were inside and the guys were outside (most of the night). We had a lot of fun and it was just at the MOH's house.

We considered doing our own things during the day then ending at our house with a bonfire with everyone, but FH's best friend quickly shot that down. He said he thought it sounded fun but the rest of their friends would never let FH hear the end of it.

Your beach house weekend sounds amazing! What a fun way for everyone to get to know each other and relax a little before the big day.

10 people is the perfect amount for a beach getaway. That sounds so awesome!

I did have a joint bachelorette party. One of my bridesmaids threw me a "bar crawl" style bachelorette but because one of my other bridesmaids lives out of state and is underaged, she wasn't able to go. My official bachelorette party actually included my FH and four of my guy friends (plus me and my bridesmaids). We dressed up like it was the 50's (fascinators and suspenders), had afternoon tea, and did an escape room. (We escaped! haha)

That's what's I was going to suggest, if it will be your Bach parties make sure you plan time with your friends separate from one another too! Otherwise it might feel to your friends like it's a pre-wedding honeymoon that they were invited to.

We’re not doing one becuase I love country music and really wanted to go to Nashville, but if that wasn’t possible I would 100% would have loved to have a joint one in florida with my FH and his groomsmen.. they’re all so much fun!! We would have had one night with our appropriate parties to have the actual bachelor / bachelorette thing and then did the rest together !! I love the idea

I went to a joint bachelor bachelorette party and it was a blast! FH and I thought of renting a houseboat but never committed. Plus they say you’re not supposed to plan your own so we figured we’d let our people do what they wanted. But it’s still in consideration

We haven't had it yet, but our plan right now is to get a few rooms in Disney World for a weekend and have a joint bachelor/bachelorette party. Drinking in excess at clubs/strip clubs is not our thing at all. We are all pretty much Dis-nerds so it's right up our alley. I hope it pans out.
