Do you and your spouse plan on having joint bank accounts or do you plan on keeping separate accounts. Just curious on everyone's Opinion on this topic. My Husband has been watching these financial videos and has been hounding me around us having a joint back account all of a sudden. We have been doing just fine with separate bank accounts. I know people who use joint bank accounts and it works for the and also know people who have separate accounts with no problems.

My fiancé and I have been paying bills/budgeting together for about 5 years and have separate accounts, but we'll have joint accounts once we're married! We actually have three savings accounts that are joint right now, where we save for our wedding, emergencies, and travel. We'll just combine our checking accounts once we're married. We might still have one separate account where we could buy surprise gifts for each other, but otherwise we think it's just easier to have everything combined so it's easier to keep track of.

We have our separate accounts, but we also created a joint checking and savings account. Most of the house bills were in my name and we left them that way. So at the beginning of the month we'll split our bills, and he deposits his half in our checking account. I then put it in my account and pay the bills accordingly. We put any shared money (like a monetary gift from our wedding or Christmas) into our savings account. We also each put a certain amount in our shared savings account each month. Any money that comes out of our joint savings account is agreed upon by both of us. But as long as we each have enough money to cover our monthly bills, the rest of our money is ours to do with as we please (within reason). It's what works for us.

We will have both. Joint checking and savings and keep the individual ones for discretionary funds.

We have a joint wedding account right now. After our wedding is done, we'll keep the account open to save money for a house and other important factors.

We have been married almost a year and have not joined our bank accounts yet. Will get there eventually. I bought a house 3 years ago and he is not on the deed and don't plan to cause we want to get a bigger house in the next couple years. Since all the bills are in my name, he gives me a check every month. We did file our taxes together which was exciting. Lol.

My fiancé and I already have joint savings accounts to make paying for certain things easier, and we plan to combine our checking accounts once we get married! I’m the budget person more than him, so we both want to combine to make it all easier.
