Jordan Almond Favors

Amanda, on October 29, 2016 at 8:30 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

I'm trying to get a rough idea about how many bags/lbs of Jordan Almonds I will need to purchase next year for the Italian tradition of 5 almonds? I'm thinking if I buy a 5 lbs bag. That should probably cover most of my 200 guests.

Can you do some math to help you? Look at a bag, see how many almonds per serving, multiply that by how many servings are in the bag and then divide that number by 5...that will give you how many people the bag will serve for your 5 almonds...

So if a 1lb bag has 20 servings that are 10 almonds each...the bag has 200 almonds...the 200 divided by 5 is 40...you'd need a lot more...(made up numbers here!)

Will there be one at each place setting? If you have them at a table, for guests to pick up as they leave, you may not need as much. Although my husband is part Italian, I've never seen them at a family wedding. Frankly, there's no one in our family who even likes them.

You'll need a lot more than a five pound bag for 200 people. A lot more.

But honestly, I don't know that many people who like those. I mean that kindly. You may not need a ton because a lot of them will get left.

(And on a funny note... Have you seen the movie Bridesmaids?? Thats all I can think about here... You said Jordan Almonds and I immediately started thinking of Kristen Wigg sweating and being sick hehehe!!!!)

There are approximately 110 jordan almonds in 1 pound...at 200 guests and 5 jordan almonds each that equals 1000 total jordan almonds divided by 110 equals approximately 9-10 pounds that you would need to buy

@mrsk&d. My parents are guilt tripping me into doing them for the wedding. I think they are soo nasty tasting. I'm also doing French macroon favors. @carebear I forgot about that scene!! Lol

I just looked it up it’s approximately 110 in one pound. I’m doing the almonds too but we are having less people.
