July 2022 Weddings!!

Lisa, on June 29, 2022 at 10:15 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 81
It's almost July!! Time has absolutely flown by, I have only 30 days left until my wedding! For anyone getting married in July, how many days until your wedding? How is everyone's planning going? What all do you have left to do?

Lisa! Almost wedding twin!! Our date is the 31st. Super excited. Just have to get my alternations done tomorrow (going to a local seamstress). Also need to get jewelry, tiara & a card box. But overall we are ready! What about you?

If COVID didn't force us to postpone, we would have been date twins, Imani! My original date was July 31, 2020. So exciting that you've only got a few things left to cover! Did you pick out a tiara already? If so, what does it look like?

I just need a bustle on my dress, and I need to figure out shoes, jewelry, finish shopping for wedding party gifts (I got most of everything, just a couple things left to pick up), and put together our seating chart. Otherwise, we are ready to go!

Oh wow! So original wedding twin! I found this one on Etsy. Might go with it because it comes with the jewelry as well. Do you know what type of shoes you plan on wearing?

😯 This is gorgeous!! And even better that it comes with the matching jewelry! You will look stunning. Good find!

I have a general idea on the type of shoes, but haven't really started looking for them yet. 😬 Since the ceremony will be outside on grass, I am going to do a block heel, nothing too high though. Probably silver shoes, but haven't decided for certain yet. I'll probably start looking around in the next week! Got any recommendations of places I should check?

    Thank you so much!!!

I would recommend DSW for block heels, they have really good shoe options. I like the silver shoe idea! I will be wearing converse. I just couldn’t do heels of any kind because I have a high arch. I’d have to buy insoles and I didn’t want to worry about that.

Good recommendation - I will start there. Thank you!!

Converse will be comfy! Especially since you'll be on your feet for a lot of the day, those seem like a good choice.

Our wedding is in 10 days! I feel like I keep coming up with new things we gotta accomplish, but ultimately if it happened tomorrow we’d be just fine. Need to print our seating chart, buy candy for the candy bar and put together welcome bags for the hotel guests.

I feel the same way! I could prepare for years, and still feel like I need to do more. What all are you including in your welcome bags?

Sort of! We originally sent out invitations in 2020, and then postponed to 2022 due to COVID. We've since cut down our guest list by about half from 2020, and are doing a much smaller event for 2022.

Did you run into a scenario where you need to cut down your guest list?

Since our new date is two years after the invitations were sent out for the original date, we just quietly downsized when sending out the new invites. Most of the people who we cut out were friends of parents and people who we haven't seen or talked to in the past two years. Our parents told their friends that we were doing a much smaller event. There didn't seem to be any hard feelings.

However, if you've already sent them an invite recently, it's tougher to uninvite without potentially causing hurt feelings. Can I ask why you need to downsize? That might help give more context and better advice on how to inform everyone.
