Yes we are JUMPING THE BROOM! Doing the whole tradition of sweeping away negative then Jump the Broom.

There are weighty implications associated with jumping the broom. We are an interracial couple. I wanted to honor his ancestry with the incorporation of Jumping The Broom, it will also signify the ability of a mixed couple marrying as well.
So along with our ceremony it will be accompanied with a historical significance!

Personally bc I’m a person of color this is one of the most exciting parts for me & I couldn’t imagine my ceremony without it! 😊 it’s nice to see you researched! Are you two decorating your broom!?

I was an African American bride and we jumped the broom last month at our wedding. We had the officiant explain the significance of it. It was a special moment.

We purchased our broom from eBay if you're still looking for one.

Thanks for including this link because I've heard of this but didn't know the history. Love the idea of honoring your FH's ancestry too.

We're jumping the broom as well. We're also an interracial couple - I'm black and FH is white. The officiant will offer an explanation. It's an important element to me to have; we're not doing any other unity ceremony, candle, sand, etc. but we wanted to do this.

That's the only thing we're doing. No unity candle etc.
I think it's really nice that others are doing this! ❤️

Yessssss, we are! Just haven't decided if I want to decorate it or buy it already decorated.
