Anyone nervous about restrictions still being in place? I talked to my event planner last week and I guess I wasn’t as aware of ALL of the restrictions that are being placed on weddings in my state. I figured masks and 6 feet less at tables etc. but now they’re saying cocktail hour has to be seated.... We’re going to be outside in a tent. No passed hors d'oeuvres. Everyone has to remain seated the whole time unless bathroom. No dancing. I was aware of the no dancing restrictions in other states but didn’t realize my state is included in that. I’m unsure what to even do at this point. No cake cutting. No lawn games. I feel like I’m better off just getting eloped.

My friend was getting married in RI and her venue kept a lot of things from her regarding guidelines. This was in September. Make sure you contact RI gov to have the accurate regulations.

I’m June 2021 in MA and just got a letter from my venue saying it’s too soon to reschedule, they’ll reach out in February and they want more money by Dec 11. Things won’t change for the better in 2 months, it’ll just get worse. I’d rather move it now so I can switch all my vendors before they get booked. This is nuts guys...

I agree. And luckily the awesome RI brides here on WeddingWire have informed me of a lot of things. Even when I went to the RI health department board, they had a square section full of wedding rules, however I did not realize that I would have to continue searching for the long list of “catered events “rules. I have since found them, and also thanks to a lot of information from the brides on here. I honestly can’t even stress enough how helpful this app has been. It’s amazing how much money we are dishing out to these venues and it’s like why not just be open as possible you know. I feel like venues are purposefully trying to hide information because they think we are going to just drop out, when they don’t realize if they are just super upfront with us and willing to work with us, we will most certainly keep the date, or at least keep the venue and push the date out as it is obviously a lot more work for us to find a whole new venue. They don’t realize for whatever reason that when they are deceitful many people will just drop out and find a new place to go

Yes I’m more anxious now than ever!! Our new date is June 4, 2021 it was 10.10.20 and I’m in NV. We have a new restriction on weddings currently for up to 50 people when just a couple weeks ago our venue had weddings of 100 or 200 guests, it’s crazy how quickly things can change!
We haven’t even sent our new save the dates yet, I go back and forth with the guest list 🙁 we don’t want to postpone for the second time so my dream wedding might have to just be an intimate one. Hoping for the best but always preparing for the worst kinda thing 😝

Good luck! I met with my venue yesterday. I’m may postpone again. My venue has been very accommodating and they have moved 90 percent of the 2020 weddings to 2021 and now are starting to reschedule the 2021 weddings because it doesn’t look like New York state restrictions are lifting anytime soon. NYS law says 50 people max for catering facilities, no dancing, masks worn at all times except when you’re eating, and a sit down cocktail hour. My venue is a restaurant also so they are still doing well but the catering halls are suffering immensely. The rules for restaurants are much different than catering halls on Long Island. Hope everything works out for you! Wishing you a happy and healthy new year!

We decided to scrap the whole NY wedding and move it to Colorado. My parents live there and my Dad has COPD so it’s better for him to move it there. I moved it to August evening so I can be outside. Hope restrictions are lifted by them. Good luck with yours. Capt Bills in Bayshore is available on Sunday June 7, 2021 if anyone is interested.

My venue has the ability to be outside, but I worry about my day being too hot or cold to be comfortable. Reading stories about wedding super spreader events makes me worry so much. Even if things are getting better, with the new strain being more contagious, it worries me so much that people will get sick.

Hi Lori Ours is June 19, 2021. I hope the rules ease up with catering halls also. Some are
going out of business and some are just not open now because it doesn’t pay for them to have 50 people weddings. My venue also happens to be a restaurant and the restrictions on restaurants are much different than catering halls. They are allowed to have 200 people sitting for dinner every night but they have to follow the catering restrictions for all weddings there. I know of three Long Island catering halls that did not follow the rules and got fined and lost their liquor licenses. Hoping 2021 brings happiness and good fortune and a little more normalcy for everybody. We were actually discussing today moving the wedding back again because if we keep it in June we will need to send invitations out in April and it’s already January so I doubt the restrictions will be lifted by April. When is your catering hall opening? Where are you getting married?

I hope things get better soon. Many brides are changing their dates again. I’m worried too. We may move our date back yet again.

My wedding is June 26th and I’m having it at chateau Briand which is strictly a catering hall.. I’m hoping in the next month or so I’ll hear something about possibly opening or staying closed, which will help us decide how to move forward. My fear is I don’t know how long these places can stay closed and survive. They told us if we cancel we don’t get our money back so the only option is to move it, if it can’t happen but that is gonna be hard to find a date that all the vendors are available. Ughh I really hope and believe things will open up

Good luck! It’s probably going to be way better up there than New York anyway. New York is so crazy right now. People are just insane everywhere but New York in particular is a bit Cray Cray

I am also getting married 6/26, in RI.
I am lucky that I am getting married at a private outdoor venue, so i have some flexibility, but I am not making an decisions until the spring. Guidances, restrictions, peaks and outbreaks are going to change 1000x between now and then. I plan to send my invites end of April, so that’s when I’ll make any big decisions
But i see (really i cant swear?) hitting the fan in Jan and Feb, then improving slightly come spring and even more into summer. It’s going to get worse before it gets better. I’m refusing to panic. I’ll panic in April lol. Good luck!
