June 2022 Wedding

Heaven, on January 9, 2021 at 7:22 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on wedding favors. We were thinking about doing koozies but I am worried that they will be something that isn't used. We are inviting about 80 guests. We are having a spring wedding at a beautiful rustic barn in the woods and our colors are grey and white. What are your thoughts on wedding favors? Are they a do or don't? And what would be a good wedding favor?

Thank you in advance!

Wedding favors are totally optional! If they're not in the budget, it's fine to skip. If you want to do favors, I think koozies are a fun idea! I've been to weddings that gave koozies out as favors, and we still regularly use them. Otherwise, anything edible is usually a popular idea! A snack that is local to the area you're getting married in, or decorated cookies, or mini pies, etc. Practical favors are also a good idea - luggage tags, bottle openers, picture frames, etc. One thing I recommend is avoiding putting your name and wedding date on most favors. It's fine to put it on wrappers of edible favors, or on a sticker or packaging of non-edible favors. But, for example, most guests probably wouldn't use a picture frame if it had your name and wedding date on it.

A lot of people choose to skip wedding favors and put that money toward upgrading something else in the wedding (maybe add an additional hor d'oeuvre?) Oftentimes favors get left behind, thrown out, or unused. The only exception seems to be edible favors; so if you really want to have favors maybe think about going that route.

I think that favors are a nice touch, even though they're totally optional.

Another fan of the edible favor, here! We did honey jars and everyone took theirs.

I personally wouldn't use a koozie, but they may go over well with your crowd.

I do like the idea of a honey jar! It goes with our rustic theme and is a nice little far to keep after! Did you use local honey?

I did! My super local honey guy couldn't do them, but I ended up ordering from eBee Honey, which happens to be based in my state: https://www.ebeehoney.com/personalized_honey_favors.html

I would definitely recommend edible favors, if you decide to have them! I've been to a couple of weddings where koozies were the favor and most guests didn't take them or tossed them later. Could be a know-your-crowd thing, but I personally wouldn't likely take a koozie home as a wedding favor because I would never use it.

I definitely second the honey idea! I've attended a rustic barn wedding where mini bottles of honey were the favor and we definitely used them Smiley smile

We’re going to have edible wedding favors. Plan on having chocolate covered toffee for people to snack on while the dancing is going on.

I don't think wedding favors are necessary but I've never passed on a koozie.

We were thinking of Koozie's too, mostly because my fiancé collects them. But I'm also worried most people won't use them. We're having a beach wedding, so I can't really think of anything else that would work well.

Skip em. Not needed and unless edible are left behind. 😭

We skipped them and no one noticed.

Honestly, unless a wedding favor is edible, I usually don't find them very useful.
