June 6th Wedding - Covid-19 Freakout

Briana, on March 16, 2020 at 5:13 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8

I'm supposed to get married on June 6th. I'm starting to panic as the CDC has suggested a ban on gatherings of 50+ people, including weddings for the next 8 weeks. That's not too far off from my wedding. I'm afraid that this is going to continue and that the guideline will get extended. No one is even RSVP'ing to our wedding. I think everyone is scared at the moment. We're also in limbo right now with our honeymoon. We were all booked for Venice, Italy (June 8th-16th) but that's most likely not going to happen either. It's too soon to cancel or postpone through Travelocity though since they are only assisting those who are set to travel within the next 7 days. I'm not even sure that we will get a full refund despite the fact that we have the travel insurance because the hotel is nonrefundable and we can't switch the dates. I'm in a full-on panic over here. How are the rest of you holding up? Please tell me I'm not the only one!

The 8th week is like the first week in May hun. A lot can even happen by the end of the week. I wouldn't get too worked up about things that can constantly change let alone about the uncertain. My wedding is the very end of June (June 28th), so I'm not worried nor will it be canceled. If people aren't comfortable, thats fine. it's on them. I wouldn't worry about something more than 2 months out.

My fiance has been working with all our vendors about potentially rescheduling to next year and having a small and/or court wedding this year. Our date is June 20 and we were going to go on an Italy your in late September. Originally, I was thinking to wait out until April to decide if we will postpone, but now with the news getting crazier, I don't know what to think! Are we being too cautious/is it too early to decide to reschedule right now or should we just go ahead and do it?

I know what you mean! I'm not sure what to do. Yeah, it's a little over two months away but it sounds like it'll only be getting worse before it gets better. Who knows how long it'll take for this to blow over. I'm just afraid that if I continue on as planned that I'll have last minute cancellations from my vendors. Everyone wants their wedding to be "perfect" and this could really derail things. All it takes is my officiant or photographer dropping out and the wedding is ruined. I'm also worried about the health of my guests and the employees that will be working the event. I don't want anyone getting sick. Ughh. Good idea contacting the vendors though. I think I'll do that too. It can't hurt to have a back-up plan. Here's hoping it works out for all the brides and grooms out there!

June 6th bride as well. I’m not in panic mode, I’ve been doing pretty well staying positive. However, I am starting think about mentally preparing myself for my bridal showers being canceled, both in April one at a restaurant and one at a church. I’m trying to stay hopeful and positive that things will calm down by then.

That stinks! I ended up cancelling my bridal shower because a lot of the people I was going to invite are self-isolating right now which is understandable. After talking to my fiance and some family members tonight, I'm less panicky and trying to stay calm about things. If our wedding gets cancelled, we'll just have to figure it out. It may not end up being the wedding of my dreams but I'll have a wedding nevertheless...if not on June 6th, there are other days in the year. Best of luck to you! Here's hoping it all works out.

Feeling better today about things today because we talked to our planner and coordinator at church. Keeping this year's date for now, but in mid-April, we'll make our final decision if we'll go with Plan B. Hoping everything will be fine 🙏

I just emailed all my vendors and the venue. Hoping we can figure out a Plan B date that results in being able to keep on everyone I have already hired.
