June wedding- coronavirus

Nicole, on March 16, 2020 at 4:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
Hey all!

Just need some advice. My fiancé and I have our wedding set for the Outer Banks in June 8th. We have family and friends coming and staying for the week to celebrate with us. Amid all this coronavirus panic my fiancé and I have not been too worried, but now that has changed. There was a news break today that it could be around into July and August. Has anyone with June dates started changing their plans? We did email our wedding planner at our venue who said they have a policy where they are allowing change of dates later into 2020 free of charge, but will not change the dates until the 30 day window of our wedding. Should we wait this out!? Or should we start making plans to cancel?
Thanks for any feedback anyone has!

I would wait it out a bit. That's still several weeks away. I truly hope this doesn't last that long. Please be positive during this time, it will pass but we need to be patient and continue to follow the guidelines from the CDC.

I would give it at least the 3-4 weeks that schools, restaurants, and other public venues are closed. Hopefully by then you will have a clear answer on how to process. My wedding is 8/8/20, so I panicked a little when the news flashed “July, August or longer” on the screen 😕 all we can do at this point it wait and see.

Thank you! My fiancé and I are in healthcare so we haven’t been worried but today it kinda shifted to a, “oh crap” kinda situation! Haha! Thank you for your response. Means a lot!

I do mean to be negative by any means but I would follow the head doctor compared to Trump at this point in time. It was Trump saying it could last till July or August, and not trying to get political by any means. I think following the guidelines for the 8 weeks that they are currently recommending is good as of right now.

I hope so too. I'm not saying I know best by any means or know everything about this current situation. But I do know who I will believe and which guidelines to follow based on the CDC.

Man, I hope by mid April this is all over. China is starting to re-open so that is encouraging? 🤞🏼

Yes I agree about China being encouraging. The other thing is that China didn't start doing any of the steps to curb the virus so to speak (from my understanding). The US is so it has to start helping at some point I would think.

This is super encouraging! I've been concerned about the spring brides, and hoping it doesn't go into summer/fall!

Im thinking of postponing. Fear being that if I wait too long to postpone all the dates will be taken up.
