junior bride and groom?

DawnDawn, on August 23, 2009 at 3:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

I have seen posts listing junior bride, groom, bridesmaid, and groomsmen. I have heard of them but have never been to a wedding that included them. Can anyone please tell me what is the point in having extra kids in the wedding. Seems like fewer actual guests and more people to outfit.

We are having a junior bridesmaid...she is 10 years old and will be wearing the same dress as the adult bridesmaids and will have similar jewlery (more age appropriate) and a smaller bouquet.

I'm also having Jr bridesmaid and groom. Reason being, they are my god children and very near and dear to our hearts and are too old to be ring bear and flower girl.

I never heard of a junior bride or groom either. I did see that some of Alfredo Angelo dresses which have matching ones for girls call them junior brides. My daughter will be a bridesmaid but due to her age I woll also have another attendent, my sister who will be the one witnessing on our wedding lisense if needed. My son wont be a junior groomsman or a usher he will walk with me down the aisle and "present me to be wed" I am not planning on using the traditional word or "giving away". I am not property nor is he giving me to my FH and his family never to have me again. He might do a reading in the wedding but since he has a speech impediment thats up to him.

Jr. means to me not old enough to be an bridesmaid but since they are younger it kinda represent their age. I have one which is my little sister and she is 15 so I had called her my Jr.

Ok, I get the junior bridesmaid / groomsmen - too old for RB or FG but a bit young for true BM or GM. But what about the junior bride and groom?

Here's a good explanation (I never heard of them, either): http://www.partypop.com/forums/Weddings/m20115.htm

I will have them in my wedding because I wanted my (going to be) 13 year old son to be in the wedding and he's too old (IMO) to be a ring bearer. I had my MOHs daughter (who is the same age as my son) as a Jr BM to be his partner. My son will be wearing a tux and my friends daughter will be wearing the same dress that the other BMs got.

But you don't HAVE to have Jr BMs and GM in your wedding unless you have someone you WANT to include.

I have a seventeen year old daughter and a nine year old son. My daughter will be my Junior Bride and my son the Junior Groom. It's, an honor to incorporate them that way because they are our children together.
