Junior Bridesmaid

I have already picked my bridal party, but I've been trying to decide about my future sister in law. I was set at first about only wanting adults in the bridal party. I am just putting a lot of thought into it. I am still deciding. (My fiance has expressed that he has no strong feelings either way-he does have some concerns about age.)

If you had a junior bridesmaid what was your experience? Or if you were a junior bridesmaid what was your experience.

Hello, if you include her it’s fine. She would mostly be involved in the wedding and not the pre-activities. Has she expressed wanting to be in the wedding?

How old is your future sister in law? You could also have her do other tasks like usher or have people sign the guestbook depending on her age

How old is she? My little sister will be 16 at the time of our wedding, but I wanted to include and honor her in some way. She will be my junior MOH and during my bachelorette weekend, she will be included in SOME of the festivities. She will walk right before me by herself and wear a similar dress to the other bridesmaids. I’m really excited to include her because she will remember it for the rest of her life! I guess the best way to decide is to consider the scenario as if she were older. If she were an adult, would you include her in your bridesmaids? What do you think will be super different about having a younger bridesmaid and what are your reservations?

How old is she? Aside from her age, one concern I would have is who is going to be responsible for paying for her attire and hair and makeup if she is having it professionally done? If your in-laws are the ones paying for these costs, it might be best to also talk with them about how they feel about it.

I was a junior bridesmaid in my aunt’s wedding when I was in 3rd grade. My mom was also a bridesmaid. I remember being so excited to get my dress and dyeable shoes! Lol. I attended only pre-wedding events that were age-appropriate, such as the bridal shower. At the time, getting hair done wasn’t a thing, so my mom and I just fixed our hair at home and met everyone at the church. I was also a reader in another aunt’s wedding when around the same age and read the first reading at the ceremony. I enjoyed both events, and both made me feel included, as my younger brothers were also in the weddings.
