Junior bridesmaids special role

Katherine, on December 20, 2021 at 12:43 AM Posted in Planning 0 2
My fiancé has 2 nieces I would love to involve in the wedding. They are ages 13 and 11 so they would be junior bridesmaids. Temperament wise they seem to prefer running around as goofballs and playing to being “little ladies” if this matters.

Is there a special role or ‘job’ I can give each one to make them feel important? We already have some special family friends in mind as readers and ushers so it would need to be something else.I have 4 bridesmaids, 1 flower girl, 2 ring bears. FH has 4 groomsmen already.
Additionally, what did you have your junior BMs participate in or not? How to seat them at ceremony and reception? Ride w party in limo? Getting ready? What did that look like? Gifts ideas.

My daughters are 13 & 9. As junior bridesmaids, they’ve participated in pretty much all my activities. They went dress shopping with me & the rest of my party; I’ve gotten their opinions on many planning items; they helped choose their own dresses, accessories, & hairstyles. While they won’t be attending the official bachelorette party, we will be having a separate, child-appropriate celebration with them. They will be getting their nails done & facials with the rest of us the day before. They will be getting ready with all of us & I’ll have sparkling white grape juice for them in the suite.
As for the wedding itself, one will carry his ring & one will carry my vow book. They will be giving a toast. And they will be seated with family at the reception (if we had a head table, they would have been seated there, but we don’t).

Hi Katherine! If you want to have them as junior bridesmaids then that would be their special job!!

You can have them join you for getting ready, or have them dropped off at the tail end of "getting ready" so they don't get bored. They can join you for the limo ride over and walk down the aisle in your wedding processional!! During the ceremony it's your choice - they can stand up front with the other bridesmaids or they can walk down the aisle then sit with their family in one of those first rows.

If that all sound like too much you could just have them pass out ceremony programs!
