Just a Note for Brides (post office issues)

Mandi, on May 22, 2022 at 6:22 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
Hello Brides to Be,
So I live in New Jersey and sent my invitations out April 15th, I’m getting married July 2nd, 2022. Some people who live close to me still didn’t get their invitations yet or they just received them on Saturday May 21st. I’m bringing it up to all of you because the post office said they are having problems. My neighbor who lives right next door got hers on Saturday which should’ve been delivered to her first as I separated the mail from people who lived close by to out of state. So I’m just making all of you lovelies aware of the situation before you send out your invites. And to send them earlier so you don’t run into this issue. I’m glad we were able to catch on and send them early. So just passing the note.

Hi Mandi. I’m also in New Jersey and sent invitations on May 1st for our July 16th wedding. I’ve received about 30% RSVP’s back via mail so far.
I guess it depends on the post office. Mailing out sooner is a good idea in case.

Yes definitely is. I just found it weird that my neighbors legit just got theirs. It’s kinda crazy in my neck of the woods but things are getting better. at least almost everyone got theirs I’m taking care of the rest now for those who are still waiting I’m going to hand deliver them.

Thanks for the heads up, the post office has been a bit wonky on and off all year. Two weeks ago my dad started getting text and voicemails from friends saying everything ok there. Turns out they d all just received his Christmas card... in April Smiley laugh Fingers crossed your invites make it to all safely and soon! Happy planning!

I live in Memphis and it took 3 weeks my first "save the date" to get it where it needed to be. It seems like things are giant mess. And, I was just weighing my invites last week and there was a bride in the post office freaking out because no one had received her invites. So, plan ahead everyone! I don't care about what we are "supposed" to do. I am sending out my invites on June 1 for a September 10 wedding . Unless there's an emergency, people will know if they're coming or not.

Good advice. I sent my invites out a little early (about 2 weeks earlier than advised) because of delays with the post office. It took some people 3 weeks to get their invites.

The only thing you can rely on with the mail is that it's unreliable 🤦‍♀️ I think next weekend is when we're going to sit down and finalize our invites to make sure they get printed and are in our hands on time. I don't think we had too many issues with our save-the-dates, but there was a printing issue that caused a big hold up. Not trying to have printing issues on top of delivery issues with the invites.

So questions for you guys. I live in FL and fam is in NY and Mass. I was told to get invites out 6 months b4 our date. We are getting married 3/31/23. Dilemma is I'm also planning my daughter graduation a month after. I kinda want to just send the invites out now. Is it too early?

It’s way too soon to send invites. You should sent save the dates 6-9 months out and invites 8 weeks out.

Thank you for the heads up. Daughter’s invites will be here in 2 days. As soon as they arrive, I will be taking envelopes to the printer & we will be attempting to get everything in the mail around June 1st for her Sept 3rd wedding. Luckily her FH worked diligently on the addresses last fall for their save the dates. I will be checking with people later in June to make sure they got the invite. We just have to nail down a few more addresses! (Also, I already went to post office, had invite & envelope weighed & purchased stamps for invite & the rsvp card.)
