Venues. If you don't have a venue, you don't have a date.

Congrats on the engagement!! First place I started was deciding when I wanted to get married, specifically the year and month. Then I would say start looking at venues especially if you want a fall wedding. Venues book up well over a year in advance. They should tell you what days they have available so that helps set a date! Don’t forget no matter how overwhelming it may seem it will all be worth it in the end! 😊

I would say start with your vision. Try to think of the theme or vibe you want. That’ll help you determine your venue choice and time of year you want for the big day. Good luck!

I’d recommend thinking about budget first, or at least at the same time as all the other things the previous people said. Knowing what you can and cannot afford to spend will help you narrow down possible venues and vendors

I would sit down with FH and make a list of what you both want for the wedding, and then look for a venue.

Congratulations!! Definitely start by making a budget. I also recommend getting The Knot Wedding Planner to help out with budgeting, timeline, and other general stuff you’ll need to know.
Figure out what you want your “vision” as a PP put it, check out your Pinterest boards!
Find a venue. Many venues I viewed were booked 1.5 years in advance.
Start researching photographers (if you’re getting a pro/ think this is important—it was very important to me) and finding your style.

    Hey there! Congratulations!
Start with your budget, we underestimated by about 5 k😱

Pick your date, then select and lock in your venue. Then, the rest will fall into place.

Date is important, so you know how much planning time you actually have.

We are having a year and about four months total for our engagement. Our wedding is in June.

I'm glad that we decided to wait until next summer, gave us some time to save up, we are paying our venue monthly.

We are eight months or so out, still have things to do, but I can pace myself and not stress too muchSmiley smile

    Good luck!
I'd love to know your date, when you have one❤

Congratulations! I’d start with a budget, and then I’d get a venue. Once you have the venue, the rest will quickly fall in line.

Budget, guest list, and venue are the big three

I started with a guest list. This way you know what kinds of venues to look for. You can't book a venue without knowing how many guests you expect to have. Some venues only allow 75 people. Some allow 500. Knowing how many friends and family members you and your FH intend to invite will help you narrow it down to a few venues!
