First things should be to think about what you want your wedding to look like (rustic, modern, classic, etc), figure out a general date you'd like to be married, then figure out how much you guys are able to spend/save. After that depending on how far away the wedding is start looking at venues and vendors. The checklist on here is helpful for what you need to book.

Most people here will say always start with budget! Figure out how much you and your FH are willing to spend. Then have a conversation with your parents and see if they're willing to contribute anything (they don't have to, but it’s nice to have that information now to help you plan ahead).


Also draft up a guest list of people you definitely want to invite and see how many that is. You need a rough number because when you talk to vendors, all of them will ask how many guests and they need this to give you an accurate price quote. But be realistic with your guest count vs. your budget. If your budget is $5000, then you probably can't invite 400 people.
