Just postponed my 10/10/20 wedding in Texas

First fiesta, then my wedding! I planned my wedding for two years, and my fiance and I just came to the rough decision to postpone it. We'd already spent most of this year stressing that the pandemic would affect our wedding. I missed out on going shopping for bridesmaid dresses with my friends, and our bachelor/bachelorette parties would more than likely have been cancelled. We also didn't want our family and friends to risk their health just to come to our wedding. We want to celebrate our love and devotion to each other and have our big day be just about that.

Sadly, I did already order invitations and a couple of things that have our date on them, but fortunately Shutterfly is offering credits for new invitations for all orders placed through September 1. Changing our honeymoon flight might be a little harder, but I'm trying to take things one at a time.

Anyway, I just wanted to share what led us to make this choice. We're definitely disappointed, but we think we have a better chance at having the wedding we'd planned and looked forward to next year. My heart goes out to all of you fellow brides & grooms wrestling with this same decision and no matter what you settle on, I wish you health, happiness and a wonderful wedding day Smiley heart

I’m also a former 10/10/20 bride. We’re postponing October 2021 and increasing an already long 21 month engagement to 33 months. So I totally understand! I loved our “perfect” 10/10/20 date. But, in a backwards way, postponing makes our new date even more special and meaningful. Thankfully I waited on ordering invitations and our STD was the only item with our date on it. Selecting not to have a bridal party was one less thing to worry about. So there hasn’t been much “loss” besides our actual wedding date. But now you’ll now be able to go bridesmaid dress shopping and have your bachelorette party in 2021! 😀

You're not alone! Our wedding was going to be 10/24/20 and we made the difficult decision to postpone. And since we did decide the country has turned into an even bigger dumpster fire so...it was ultimately the right choice. We had international guests coming (my parents) and now they can't, FH has friends coming in from different states, planning got stalled, all the fun activities that were going to happen...and yes ultimately we just thought, we wanted to have all the FUN things!! Not sure where we'll be next year either but hopefully we can do most of the things we wanted to originally. I feel ya girl, it totally sucks but you have this and your wedding will be spectacular!

I'm so sorry you had to make this tough decision Joanna, but it sounds like you're at peace with the decision! Smiley heart

There's still so much that's unknown and unpredictable right now, so hopefully this lifted some stress off of your shoulders!
