Just powder foundation?

Mrs., on March 1, 2019 at 2:31 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 9

I've never been able to apply liquid or cream products to my face without it looking cakey or like I had product on my face (I'm definitely doing something wrong lol). However, when I do wear makeup occasionally, I reach for a powder as my foundation and I like the look/minimal coverage it gives me. I also tend to get pretty oily in the summertime and don't want liquid foundation breaking down on me throughout the day. I just don't know if powder will photograph differently or worse than a liquid foundation.

Have any brides used only powder on their face, no liquids? Did it hold up?

Some powders do cause flashback if your photographer is using flash! If not, dont worry about it Smiley smile

I use both and I have oily skin. Do you use a primer meant for oily skin, and a matte liquid primer meant for oily skin? What do you apply it with?

My current powder doesn't give me flashback, but if I wear a different one I'll make sure to test that out before! Thank you!

I was planning on just using powder foundation but I just looked up flashback and wowwww. I definitely need to try it out first.

Hmm, that could be part of the problem. I just made sure to moisturize before applying so it'd go over smooth skin but didn't use a primer meant for oily skin (since I get kind of dry in the winter time). Most recently I applied with a beauty blender, and while that looked the best out of all the other times (fingers, brush), it still emphasized my problem spots, and then putting powder on top just make it look awful and caked on.

Do you use a moisturizer meant for oily skin too? And one without SPF? On a day to day basis SPF is great but not so much for a wedding day or going out look. I alternate between dry vs. oily primer & moisturizer for winter and summer. I think the beauty blender is great! I initially go on with a brush, then finish with a beauty blender. I feel a primer is super important though.

I don't think my moisturizer actually claims it's meant for oily skin but I was using Belif's true cream moisturizing bomb, which I feel works well on my skin (at least without makeup on). Also just checked my primer and it has 30SPF Smiley sad I'll have to go out and buy a primer. But I guess I just don't have a lot of confidence with liquid foundation or concealer on myself. It just really highlights my problem spots like the skin/texture under my eyes and near my nose. Like I don't think I have bad skin UNTIL I use liquid foundation haha

Can you go into a Sephora or Ulta for help?

I probably should before I completely give up on the idea!
