Just realized my wedding date is Father's Day!!

Jennifer, on November 30, 2021 at 6:54 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

We were finally ready to book our dream venue, ready to write a deposit check when I realized that our date is Father's Day! We have several factors that went into our date, including when I can fly my daughter home from culinary school, the availability of the venue, a venue price within budget AND a comfortable climate for an outdoor ceremony.

Now I don't know if we should look at a new date or just go with it...

My cousin got married Father’s Day weekend. Some people may have set plans but if you give enough notice I’m sure most would make it work.
I honestly don’t think my dad would care if we got married on Father’s Day. Maybe ask your dads and see what their feelings are.

Father’s Day definitely isn’t nearly as big or celebrated as Mother’s Day. I wouldn’t mind this date as a guest.

Stick with your date. It'll be an extra special father's day gift for your dad's Smiley smile

I've known people who got married on Father's Day, and their weddings had good turnouts. As someone else said, I would check with your and your FH's dads first. If they're okay with it, then go with it. It'll only happen every few years, after all. It's not like a set holiday or someone's birthday that occurs the same exact day every single year.

I would change my date if you expected your guests to have other plans. It depends on what you truly want.

I would say go for it on Father's Day - I think it would be ok with most of your guests. Smiley smile

Stick with the date. Those who choose to attend can celebrate on the day prior.
