Just Started Planning.

Donice, on December 3, 2020 at 6:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Recently engaged and just started planning our wedding. We are aiming for January 2022 in North Carolina. Anyone have advice on a winter wedding? Any tips on what I should be asking venues about before I sign a contract?

Ask their postponement/cancellation policy due to weather, especially if the area gets snow. If they have a minimum guest count, also ask if that applies if there is bad weather.

    Congratulations on your engagement

Congratulations! I agree with PP ask about inclement weather cancellations or rescheduling.

Ask if they offer a discount because it’s off season!
The best part about a January wedding is youll pretty much have your pick of vendors since it is off season!

Congrats! Are you or your fiancé first responders? If you are, see if they give a discount for that. My fiancé is & our venue took $450 off.

Not sure how your loved ones feel, but with COVID still here and many people's fear of it which will last for a while after a vacine is out, i would definitely recommend something as small as possible since I'm assuming it will be indoors.

The OP is referencing a wedding over a year away. Personally, I would be surprised if Covid is an issue then. January 2021 would obviously be a different story.

This is good to know! My FH is a firefighter, so we'll be sure to ask when we choose a venue!
