Just the two of us

Mrs. Carmen, on May 21, 2011 at 4:45 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 15

Just imagine, hypothetically, you and your DS have decided, "to hell with all this pretense, let's just get married already." You've set a budget of $1500 or less, and it's going to be you, your DS, and possibly TWO friends. Plus your officiant, that makes a grand total of five people. And let's say you have six weeks to plan it all.

How would you pull it off as romantically as possible?

I would have it in a small open field with lots of trees, a flowy summer dress, a wild mixed bouquet and we would go out to eat in a restaurant.

It would be so simple and beautiful. I definetly would have yellow somewhere in my colors too. We would have a small simple white cake. Nothing fancy at all!

I would do a destination thing, maybe at an inn on the coast. They have great package deals, and wonderful places. Like near here, people do "elopements" on the islands all the time, I think that would be cool.

Lots of candles for sure! use a fab dress you already have, loose wavy curls, personal touches like family photos, write your own vows :-)

I would be married on Maroma Beach in Mexico, at sunset. I would wear a very loose fitting champagne sundress and the FH would wear tan pants and a white shirt. Neither of us would have shoes on. The only sound would be that of the waves washing ashore and our voices saying our vows.

Definitely on the beach somewhere at sunset. Exactly like I did last year except a lot more than 4 people Smiley smile

If we renewed our vows, I would do something similar but I may even wait until it was dark and have candles around us in the sand.

Definitely the beach, very casual, with a formal dinner afterwards.

A beach ceremony followed by a beach picnic, sunset to evening time.

I would do it at the county office by a JOP and then take is $1400 left over from the marriage license and go on the honeymoon.

    Hmmm...okay...how about this then?

We're thinking of romantic ideas for a renewal. We were planning on doing one with about 30 people in four years, but now DS keeps mentioning doing it sometime around my birthday with our two best friends. The beach thing has already been done, and there's no real point in going to a JOP when we're already married. lol.

I like the idea of a destination thing, but it wouldn't fit our budget I don't think. I was also toying with the idea of renting a mountain cabin for the weekend or something like that.

In a beautiful garden at sunset with candle lit lanterns. Dinner and Cheesecake in a gazebo afterwards.

I would either go to a really pretty open field or my grandmothers back yard (and I say my grandmother's back yard because its always been kept up and I LOVE the way it looks) and I would either get a few calla lilies as my bouquet or a whole bunch of flowers that look like wildflowers and maybe tackle a few DIY projects for extra decor. Or just take a road trip to the closest beach and throw a bouquet together. I like the idea of renting a mountain cabin, that would be fun! I'm sure you can even find a pretty lookout over all the mountains or something for some breath taking pictures if you went with the mountain thing Smiley smile

Well first off we are both way way way to close to our parents to leave them out of it ... so it'd be our families, so 10 people in total ... and I would choose St. Michaels, MD, they have a gorgeous little inn, and I'd get married right on the water, right at sunset, then I'd go to crab fest, and I'd wear a flowing summer dress, and have a bouquet of cala lilies (pink) ...

now that I'm browsing the website, I wish we had considered it ... LOL

possible honeymoon destination ... then we could do our big one next May upon graduation from graduate school Smiley smile

I saw something along these lines of just the two of them. It was on a beach (of course) but it literally was just the two of them. They had a photographer/videographer. they had the officant the flowers etc.....but they went renewled their vows on the beach JUST THE TWO OF THEM and then had a romantic dinner on the beach....candle light etc.....If I had my way I would do it like in Wine Country.....in the forest......I really think the idea of JUST THE TWO of them is amazing and romantic in its self.

I think maybe you can go for a hiking. All of you can sleep in a tent which is surrounded by a lot of candles. I think it is romantic enough.
