Fiancee and I are eloping to Kauai in two months. No guests, just us, an officiant and photographer. We looked at Hawaii beach wedding pictures, and it seemed like a slam dunk for her to wear a casual white dress, and for me to wear a white linen shirt and khakis. I bought what I needed and was all set to go.
Today she came home from the dress shop and announced she had bought an ivory dress. Now I think that what I have won't work, with the white shirt making her ivory dress look dirty. Trying to match off-white is a nightmare, with the possibility of looking yellow or grey by comparison. She told me she won't let me see the dress, so I'm flying blind.
Advice I see online for groom's attire is usually along the lines of, "Rule 1: match what the bride is wearing." So do I try to match ivory in the dark, and if so, would an ivory shirt even look good with light-colored khaki? Do I stick with the white shirt I already have? Or should I just give up and wear a pastel shirt?
