They replaced the crown/prongs and it’s completely different and cheap looking. I seriously am sick to my stomach because it looks horrible and nothing like the original.... I’ve already had a hard time with Kay when I sent in the repair order as 2.5 months went by and no one wanted to tell me where my ring was..... the first picture is the before and the other one is what I got. What to do? cfb_1441667.jpg

OK, I am going to suggest you take it to an independent jeweler before going back to Kay’s. I say this because my fiancé actually purchased me a ring for Christmas from there that had popped up on a FB ad and I fell in love with! Well, they didn’t have my size in stock and said they wouldn’t be able to get it in before Christmas. The ring they had was only a half size off and they told him it could be sized down no problem. So we took it to our local jeweler who we purchased my e-ring from (by now we had heard the horror stories about sending rings in to be repaired at Kay’s). He Inspected it & said one of the pave diamonds had already fallen out & The prongs on the main diamond were loose. He said it’s a miracle it hadn’t fallen out too! And to make matters even worse, he said that if he were to size down the ring, it would completely destroy the integrity of it and I would constantly be losing the pave diamonds! He told us he didn’t want to be rude, but we needed to take that ring back and get our money back immediately because it was junk. He also appraised the ring while we were there and it appraised waaaaay lower than they had said. My fiancé marched back in there the next day and told them everything our jeweler had said and demanded they refund him for the ring. Of course they tried to say no at first. Then they tried to say they would order a new ring or give him store credit. But he didn’t back down and kept quoting our jeweler (And kind of making a scene in front of other shoppers). Finally the manager agreed to take the ring back and refund him completely. So I highly suggest you see an independent jeweler tomorrow. Best case scenario, he tells you it can be fixed easily! Worst case scenario, he tells you everything wrong with it and you use it as ammo against Kay’s to either get a new ring or get all your money back!

Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry. I would post a negative review about their poor service.

That’s a disgrace!!! I wish I never went there! I’m so glad they gave you the money back! Everything is so over priced there! I might even consider saying screw it and having a local jeweler do the work from now on, forget the stupid Kay warranty plan. I’m bringing my fiancée with me tomorrow, because he is more assertive at first and holds his composure well. Me on the other hand, I’m a mess with a high level of anxiety so I’d just freak out and cause a bigger scene than your fiancé lol 😂😆

They’re gonna get more than just a negative review once I get there and show them their hack job

Okay I can see now that the prongs look cheap. Like they would bend very easily. To be honest I got my ring resized at Kay and after there’s was this hump. I just rolled my eyes about it cause there wasn’t much to do about it

Ok so after looking at the 2nd picture from a similar angle, I definitely see what you’re saying (not having seen it in person, it was difficult to know which part/angle to focus on in the first photo)! The prongs do look thicker and do not go with the delicate intricate look the ring had before. I agree with the prior posters about writing down the facts before (to have speaking points) and to also have your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices prepared when it comes to what you’ll accept as repairs / corrections / compensation.

I don’t know if you can see it. I live in a small beach town unfortunately I don’t have a lot of options.

I would take it back to them and express your concerns. It doesn't matter that the other ladies don't see a difference, YOU DO & you have to wear it everyday. So of course you want it to look how it did when you got it!

I would definitely try speaking with them to see what you can do to fix/replace it. You shouldn't have a ring you're unhappy with that they messed up. It's unfortunate that you're having this issue.

My ring is from Kay and now with this going on and reading everyone has read about all these bad stories, I really hope I don't come across any issues when I get my enhancement soldered.
    Good luck girl!

Yeah if something ever happens I suggest going to a local jeweler. Kay sucks and do terrible work apparently. I wish I’d known this before

I just wanted to give you girls and update. I just came back from Kay. My fiancée and I explained the situation and how unhappy I was. The lady was going to offer to have the ring sent back and fixed again with a waiting time of about 6-7 weeks. AGAIN. She came up with the excuse that “the only reason the prongs are this thick is to make them stronger” okay, I definitely never asked to replace my beautiful prongs with tacky and thick ones instead. My fiancée told her it was not acceptable and that he wanted the new ring from the case switched out. We then asked to speak with the General manager, who compared the rings and said that the repair was not properly done, they lowered and switched out the prongs to an unoriginal. He ended up eventually just switching out the rings, and giving me the new one off the shelf. Even though the new ring is half size smaller than mine, I took it anyway with no questions asked. Even though I have my lifetime warranty thing, I’m not sending this ring out to Kay to get it resized. I’m going to a local in house jeweler to resize the ring for me. Never sending anything out. I’m happy now lol
