Keep or Cancel: Garter Toss?

I have to confess that I've never actually seen a garter toss in person! But apparently 37% of grooms still participate in this reception tradition! Will this toss tradition make the cut for your wedding? Do you want to keep or cancel this toss tradition? Photo from Red Gate Farms in Savannah, GA...

Hard pass. My FH thought it was embarrassing and I thought it was way too embarrassing. Most of the guys were inviting are single and I don't think I'd feel comfortable with guys I know well lining up for my garter. In fact I decided straight to to just not wear one so it wouldn't even be a thought

Keep. There will be several single young men and we don't find it that creepy so we don't care.

Cancel. Hands down. I don't want FH up under my dress in front of my 81 yearold grandma.

Cancel! I find it super awkward and weird. I would be embarrassed as bride.

    Cancel!

FH abhors this tradition and has no intention of going UP MY DRESS in front of children and family members.

(That said, I may or may not have bought one, anyway.)

This was one of the things that my husband said that he still thought we should do out of tradition. Personally, before the wedding, I was thinking of going without it because it felt kind of weird but my husband did a dance and made everyone laugh hysterically (myself included). He said that he had so much fun with it so my little 2 minutes of embarrassment was worth it. We opted out of making the guy who caught the garter put it on the girl who caught the bouquet and it ended up working out perfectly. Enjoy this photo of my husband doing his little "jigg" Smiley smileKeep or Cancel: Garter Toss? 1

We are cutting it !! Our guest just want to dance. The last thing they want to do it be interrupted. Plus most of our guests are in relationships anyway so we wouldn’t have many participants.

Cancel! That is not something I felt comfortable doing in front of friends and family but wouldn’t judge anyone else for keeping it.

We're skipping the garter toss and bouquet toss. Our wedding is on the smaller side, only 50 guests, and there's only couple people that are single.

Just like the bouquet depends on how many singles we end up with we're both older so ~ possible keep

Cancel! It’s super gross to have your groom go up your dress in front of your family. No thank you.

Unfortunately, no. Most of our guests are already married or have significant others. This is the same for the bouquet toss.

100% cancel - not only do I hate the idea of singling out my already single wedding guests, but what if FH's 50+ yr-old uncle catches the garter, and my 13 yr-old cousin catches the bouquet? NO THANKS!

We are going to keep the toss but leave out the removal part. I feel it can be a bit tacky. Also we both feel uncomfortable doing it. So we will have an extra garter for him to throw.

Cancel. I find it very tacky and no one actually goes up to participate.
