Reception toasts from your father, maid of honor, and best man can be incredibly moving and bring everyone to happy tears! 😭 That is, when the speeches are done well! On the other hand, they can also be awkward, embarrassing, and totally cringe-worthy when done poorly.

What's your vote? Should we put everyone out of their misery and cancel reception speeches? Or keep this personal and emotional toast tradition?

Um no, you could cancel them. Although this wasn’t a tradition I grew up with. But in regards to our A Knights Tale -esque theme, I may have hinted at my MOH to give a good Chaucer speech

Cancel. I don't think anyone will be comfortable doing one.

Cancel. While we have never seen these in person at weddings, the ones I've watched on Youtube and videography same are very uncomfortable. I would be thrilled to skip them and will let the dj know there will be none. According to articles, the parents and honor attendants are expected to give them and ours refuse to do public speaking of any kind so that helps.
