Reception toasts from your father, maid of honor, and best man can be incredibly moving and bring everyone to happy tears! 😭 That is, when the speeches are done well! On the other hand, they can also be awkward, embarrassing, and totally cringe-worthy when done poorly.

What's your vote? Should we put everyone out of their misery and cancel reception speeches? Or keep this personal and emotional toast tradition?

It is up to the people in the wedding whole would be giving the speech if they want to do one or not. I am not going to make anyone stand up and speak in front of every one if they are not comfortable doing so.

I am keeping although I am having a hard time because I have both of my sister's as maid of honors so I guess they could do one together, but I am really close to one and semi close to the other so we will see.

We are not allowing parents on the night of the wedding though because my FMIL would be so long winded and about herself. I will limit her to the rehearsal dinner

We’re keeping this although it makes me nervous to see what my future husbands best man will say

CANCEL. I seriously loathe reception speeches. My dad will make a brief speech but our bridal party will not.

Keep it. We have a small bridal party, so it shouldn’t take much time.

We are just doing MOH and BM speeches and they've been instructed to keep them relatively short! I've always liked them Smiley smile

Keep for sure! It's one of the best parts of a wedding, as long as the speaker is relatively rehearsed and eloquent Smiley smile I've already warned my bridesmaids and groomsman that I expect a PowerPoint presentation style speech (and I'm only half joking)

We're keeping it... but at the reception with family. At our destination wedding, it's actually going to be a roast.

Keep. Good or bad, they are memories all the same. Also like having someone do the Blessing before dinner.

Keep! It's always nice to hear heart to hearts from friends and family, no matter how cringy it is! It's coming from deep inside them with love.
