Reception toasts from your father, maid of honor, and best man can be incredibly moving and bring everyone to happy tears! 😭 That is, when the speeches are done well! On the other hand, they can also be awkward, embarrassing, and totally cringe-worthy when done poorly.

What's your vote? Should we put everyone out of their misery and cancel reception speeches? Or keep this personal and emotional toast tradition?

Keeping - we're keeping this and having just the Best Man and the MOH to give the toasts - and not open "mic" for others in attendance.

I think this is a fun tradition and an opportunity to thank guests

Total groan... keep I guess. That’s just because if we didn’t do it, someone in my family would grab the damn mic and do it anyway!

I feel if someone wants to give a a toast then they can. We will not have set toasts.

Yes keep please! Nobody really drinks and we aren’t serving alcohol so I don’t see it getting weird lol. Would also be nice to break up the evening. Who doesn’t love a good speech?

Keep. My MOH can't wait to give hers. I'm not sure if I should be scared or not. Lol

Keep. Only three toasts are happening though. Short and sweet for us.

Undecided. I would love to keep them but both my MOH and my FH's BM are shy. If they end up not saying anything, we might let someone else take their place. Maybe our parents or something. Still up in the air.

Unsure. I have my own worries about inappropriate stories being told, but I appreciate the sentiment.

Not sure. I would prefer a couple quick toasts instead. I’ve been at weddings where the speeches were too long and by halfway through the second, I was barely paying attention. Better to just let everyone have fun.

I’m for keeping it to a minimum. I’ve been to weddings where it got long and boring. “We don’t need to hear a best mans entire 30 year history with the groom.” My vote is for one short toast focusing on the future not a lifetime of history.

Probably. But please make sure you tell the people who are giving the speeches that they have to give a speech. Some of us have adhd and we forget things and we end up writing a speech at the reception. Lol. I know. I suck.

I'm undecided but I'm leaning toward cancel. If someone REALLY wants to do one we can discuss before hand
