Reception toasts from your father, maid of honor, and best man can be incredibly moving and bring everyone to happy tears! 😭 That is, when the speeches are done well! On the other hand, they can also be awkward, embarrassing, and totally cringe-worthy when done poorly.

What's your vote? Should we put everyone out of their misery and cancel reception speeches? Or keep this personal and emotional toast tradition?

Just keep them! Who cares what anyone says about getting rid of speeches, sometimes they are the best part

Keep, but limited on who can give a toast. I see my step dad, best man, maid of honor, my dad and fog in Spanish. Short sweet and simple. Planned and no open mics.

KEEP! They're one of the best parts of a wedding for me! It's such a sentimental personal touch.

Still undecided because I have too many people that have asked it they could do a speech and I don't want to hurt anyone feelings by saying no so it might be best if we just skip it all together.

Keeping it. I like the speeches, and at other weddings I've been to I've found them funny and moving.

Honestly after seeing how people made fun of my brother at one of ours friends weddings (my brother is socially awkward and was nervous when speaking) I’m considering cutting this out. I don’t want anyone to be uncomfortable and neither do I want anyone making fun of my friends or family the way that my brother got made fun of. I might not be super close with this brother anymore, but it doesn’t mean I don’t remember how painful it was when I heard people making fun of him during his Best Man speech at our friends wedding.

We will definitely keep this one. Especially because I love my FH best friends (he has two best men). My MOH is my daughter so I really would like to hear what she has to say. And my son is giving me away and because he doesn't talk much, I'll be listening real close because when he does it's either profound or funny as hell!

Keep, I like the idea of speeches at weddings. My maid of honor is an English teacher so I know her speech will be amazing

Keep. We want to allow our friends and family the time to wish us well and help us celebrate. After all, our whole wedding is happening so we can celebrate and share with them.

Keep, they are super cute and I love when they come up with their own speeches about the bride and groom. At least from our best man and maid of honor. They both know us super well and have been in our lives forever. They'll do perfect.

We did not plan any but his aunt gave a toast and told a hilarious story. I was so glad she did

    Definitely keeping !

I know for sure that I’m going to be bawling.

we’re doing the usual maid of honor and best man speeches.

from my side - my 3 aunts in replace of my parents ( mom passes away when I was young & I don’t have contact with my dad)

from my fh side - his mom and step dad
& possibly his 2 siblings together.

Cancel. My sister is dreading it and I have no idea what his best man would say. My cousins husband's best man had the worst, most uncomfortable, speech of all time at her wedding..and it's made me not want them.
