Keto diet

bridetobe2017, on June 21, 2017 at 8:11 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 14

So my wedding is in 21 days. I wanted to start the ketogenic diet. I have already been dieting/exercising for the past year. Do you think since I've already lost 40 lbs over the last year it's safe to start this diet this close to my wedding? I only ask because I actually just had my last alterations appt last night and I don't want my dress to end up baggy.

I've been doing keto for 3 weeks no without any extreme exercise just yet (starting that next week now that my body has fully adjusted) don't start a diet this close to the wedding especially because of your dress. Just keep maintaining your current weight for the next 21 days. You could potentially drop too much weight

I lost just a couple pounds in between my last fitting and my wedding. I was pulling my dress up all night to stop it from dragging!

If you just had your final fitting and you like the fit, you should probably just worry about maintaining for the next 3 weeks.

Darn, okay thank you ladies!! I did like the fit of my dress but in my head my body still is not where I want it to be. I think it's kind of too late to make any changes to that though because my seamstress can't alter it anymore at this point. I'm still happy with the progress I've made though. Thank you!!

@kate I didn't mean regarding my safety health wise, I meant regarding my dress not being baggy. Haha

I've been keto since the first of the year and have lost 30 lbs (I lose slow) with no exercise. For me it's a way of life now and something I will continue to do even after I lose all the weight. I would caution against using keto as a "diet" though. Once your body gets used to doing without sugar, starches, and grains, adding those things back even for one meal (reception) could leave you in the bathroom on your wedding night.

    Lord- where to start.

1.) The answer to your question "is it safe to start this this close to my wedding?"

    well- safe? irrelevant.

    Wise- fuck no.

    2.) Keto isn't a diet.

Keto is a way of eating- it will not magically make you lose weight outside of initial water weight.

3.) doing anything *new*inside the last month or two before your wedding is a horrifically bad idea.

4.) Learn to love your body no matter what shape/condition it is in.

I already talked to my doctor, not sure why the comment of who cares about health because I don't see anywhere in here I said that I didn't? Obviously if I lost 40 lbs already and started exercising daily I clearly care about my health.. oy.

I did lose weight quick in the beginning but after loosing the 40 lbs I do lose slow.. ridiculously slow haha. And the definition of a diet: the kinds of foods that a person, animal, or community habitually eats. So yes I'm calling it the keto diet. I am planning on making it a life style change, I've read about the multiple health benefits other then weight loss that come with doing the ketogenic diet so it definitely would be something I would stick with.

I am learning to love my body, the past year I have been practicing self love a lot more then I used to and I can tell I feel a lot better about myself. Part of that is probably due to working out and eating a lot healthier then I used too. But I obviously know I still have room for improvement.

I would maintain rather than lose after your last fitting.

Congratulations on your 40 weight loss! I'd recommend maintaining your weight for the next few weeks. Whether you're stress level is up now or not we are about to get to a more stressful planning time. Take it easy on your body and enjoy your wedding; you've made an amazing change! As you've already stated, it's a lifestyle change. Again, congrats

The keto diet is just another "fad" diet that I find ridiculous, unless you're on the show My 600 lb life. My dad has been doing it for 2.5 months and has been religious with it, he's barely lost anything. It is not a safe diet, it can do the body more harm than good. It's actually dangerous if you're on it for too long.

With 21 days left until your wedding you should be staying with your current weight.

Just a heads up, you will feel like crap for about a month. It's called the Keto flu since you are literally teaching your body to use fat as energy instead of carbs. Free fatty acids, or the part of the fat that is used in energy conversions without the presence of carbs, cannot break through the blood brain barrier so your body creates ketones which can break through the blood brain barrier to keep normal function. This takes about 3 weeks for your body to get used to.

As for it being safe, yes, but would I do it this close to the wedding, no.

Also it's not dangerous, however keep in mind that once you start it you can't stop it. Going on and off and in and off will actually make you gain weight, and if you ever decide to give it up your body will not be happy for a few months.

My fiancé and I do the keto diet. I wouldn't do it this close to the wedding, it will just make you feel really crappy if you're not already used to it
