Keto isn't a meal plan. It's pretty much reducing your carbs to a level that makes your body switch over to protein and fat for energy mass typical your body reaches for 'fast' energy = carbs.

There is no exact number of grams of carbs that you have to hit. It will be different for each person. But it's under 20% of your diet. And arguable between 15-20 grams of carbs.

    It is difficult to sustain.

It can be sustained if you get used to what you can eat and what you can't.

Google low carb, paleo, go to pinterest and look for low carb plans.

also look up the blog "nomnompaleo"

Will do!! Thank you ladies for that insight. I wasn't aware that it wasn't healthy per say but now I understand why they have the 60 day plan.

I'd recommend going into reddit and reading the subs keto and xxketo. It is a lifestyle and a commitment. It is not easy. I'd also recommend talking to your doctor about it. I follow keto due to my migraine condition and my doctor knows and approves of it, but I also get bloodwork done regularly. It does help my lose weight, but it isn't a magic solution. I do carb refeads occasionally where I increase my daily carbs to about 100 grams a day but I make sure they are healthy carbs (unless it is an occasion such as this weekend when we went cake tasting for the wedding, where I still remained gluten free). I also recommend the YouTube channel healthful pursuit if you want information on ketogenic lifestyle

There's only one way to know if it works for you. Try it out. In a few weeks, see if you feel better or worse. Low-carb doesn't work for me (it gives me the collywobbles), but I know plenty of people who like it.

I tried the low-carb diet, (20 carbs a day) and it was so difficult. I quit after 2 weeks.. I have no self discipline whatsoever. Haha

FH and I are doing a low-carb "kinda keto" diet. Except we're eating Zaxby's for dinner tonight, so you can see how well we're doing with that.

Keto for four months. It's sustainable if you do it the right way. Make sure you know what supplements to take and listen to your body. I've tweaked my WOE so many times to fit me personally. I've lost 40 pounds in four and a half months. I researched A TON before starting. I think with any lifestyle change that involves your health should require ample amounts of research.

Keto works! My future sister in law lost 30 pounds in one month! However, if you are busy like most people and eat out a lot or eat pre-packaged food often then you won't be able to do keto.

There are some good YouTubers with pretty detailed info about Keto. It's a really tough diet to follow though, and you'll have close to no freedom with it because it's so easy to go out of ketosis. So just make sure you do your research and do it properly and are on full board if you're going to do it.

My old coworker lost 110 in a year on this diet (and strength training.) It was amazing!

So Keto is sustainable, but keep in mind that metabolically speaking it will not actually "burn fat all the time" like you think for about 3 weeks as its shocking your body. Also keep in mind that during these 3 weeks you will likely experience the "keto flu" in which you feel weak, get headaches, and get achy. This is because your body has no carbs to run on so it needs to run completely on fats.

Pretty much the basis behind it is that carbs are the preferred source of energy in the body, as carbs are broken down into glucose which is then easily changed by the body (either with or without oxygen) to create ATP (energy). Fats can also be used as energy, however fats are broken into free fatty acids (FFAs) which cannot easily be changed into energy. As a result, the body turns these FFAs into ketones (therefore keto diet) and that is used to create energy.

Overall, you need to go all in for it to work and you need to stick to it for at least 2 months to see if it actually works. One easy recipe from my keno friends is taking a slice of deli ham and putting it as a lining of a muffin tin. Then crack one egg into each and bake in the oven. Its like a poached egg in a ham basket.
