Keto diet?

Anonnn, on February 8, 2019 at 1:33 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 11
Has anyone tried keto to lose weight?
I have 50lbs to lose to reach my goal weight and I’m going to start trying on dresses end of June/ early July.
I know what to do and I’ve read up on it but I’m afraid of what happens if I decide to get off of keto, I don’t want to gain everything back.

Yes, I actually started before getting engaged. I am super lazy-nonstrict-dirty keto and its worked out super well for me. I havent lost a crazy crazy amount as most have, but doing it this way I can see it being a lifestyle change so that i do not gain the weight back. We are human and especially during planning a wedding you have many events you will have to go off of it, engagement party, tastings, bridal shower, bach party. When I got off for a weekend or day I lose anything I have gained super quick! Good luck to you!!

My FH did keto for a few months before the holidays (before Halloween) and lost about 50lb. He has gained 10lb back since then. We’re starting it together this time. That’s my experience with it so far. Also, i read if you loose weight slowly and not super fast then it doesn’t come back so easily. Good luck!

Keto diet works well I havent tried it personally but my cousin has and she dropped 75lbs while on it. She said it's really easy to follow too.

Keto is something that you need to commit to for life, not just until you meet your goal weight. When you take an entire food group away, you will instantly gain weight when reintroducing it. Keto also isn't good for everyone and you should definitely speak to your physician. I have PCOS and my doctor has recommended something similar to keto, but moreso just cutting out processed carbs than carbs in general. It's still very effective, but without being so extremely strict.

I did! I lost 45 lbs, I kinda stopped since I am getting my alterations done. I have added some carbs back in but I am more aware of what I am eating.

This is really good advice. It works for people who commit to it as a lifestyle. If you ever plan on leaving it... Maybe not.

Weight loss is all about calories in vs. calories out. And while I think that diets are nice and they give us something to strive for... They are not the solution. Any diet is naturally going to have you eating less calories, but you could also just as easily make a commitment to eating less calories rather than cutting out whole food groups. Your body needs fruits, vegetables, and yes, even carbs. There is a distinction between good and bad carbs, but overall, fat is made of calories. The best way to avoid fat/weight is to take in less calories, so eat at a deficit.

It's easier said than done. I hate limiting what I eat, and I work out a lot to make up for it. But you can never out run the kitchen. Start by setting limits for yourself and if you feel like you can do that well, then try to introduce your body to keto.

It worked for me too! I’ve always followed a keto diet naturally... then fell in love with carbs while dating hubby and put on 15 pounds. Ugh. Got it off for wedding though.

I would be REAL careful doing the traditional keto. It is REALLY and doctors are now linking it to heart health issues later down the road (High fat I assume). I did more of an Atkins diet approach which is similar to keto with keeping to low carb but its not as strict. Good luck!

I was on Keto for about 60 days before my engagement photos. It worked wonders for me! I dropped about 30 pounds during that time period. I was strict keto though and included intermittent fasting. I didn't work out at ALL during this time. After the pics my fiance and I completely stopped doing keto. We decided to eat whatever we wanted. Now we are getting back on the wagon since I have to be fitted for my dress in April. Smh... progress wasted. Either way, I say try it! It totally works and does wonders if you are dedicated. If not, don't waste your time.

I agree with your comment IF the person already has high cholesterol. Doctors recommend keto to clients all the time. It is not recommended for people with high blood pressure or clogged arteries. The fat will really clog them up. Check with a doctor before trying it!
