Khmer-american wedding

Julee, on February 27, 2021 at 10:28 AM Posted in Planning 0 3
Hello! I am planning a rugged romance themed wedding in the Adirondacks but want to also I corporate my Khmer heritage. I plan to do a few things such as the Monks blessing, offerings and gratitude for parents , and the knot tying. I was wondering if anyone else has planned or is planning a Khmer infused American wedding and what you did. I also want to change at least once between an American wedding dress and Khmer dress. Not sure when to do this without it being abrupt.

My cousin (who’s Hispanic & raised catholic) married an Asian man (very traditional). They were married in the Catholic Church & she wore a white dress, veil & incorporated her ethnicity at the wedding. She changed into a different dress/ outfit right before the reception that incorporated her husband’s ethnicity in celebration of him. They served traditional Hispanic food for the dinner & Asian dessert. It was years ago & I wasn’t there but my family told me about it

Yes I will be doing something similar to this. Did the guests enjoy the mash up or wish it was more structured and separated?
