So I just got back from the bridal shower for my friend's wedding who booted me from the bridal party. No dramatic reason for the boot. It was simply because one of her FH's groomsmen was unable to follow through so "some cuts had to be made"... I was told at the engagement party in front of everyone. It was great. ANYWHO, same thing happened to my best friend. She was a bridesmaid, another groomsmen bailed and "another cut had to be made"... This time the bride told her via facebook and hasn't said a word about it since. Fast forward to the bridal shower. Best friend and I got to listen to the bride and bridal party rave about all things bridesmaid and the bachelorette party which we haven't heard a word about. Spent the rest of the party sitting at the corner table. It's not a huge deal, just an awkward situation and interesting story I thought some peeps might enjoy! lol

Anyone else here been booted from the party or have been the bootee? Share your stories! Smiley smile

I wouldn't have attended the bridal shower:.. And probably not even the wedding!

She also sounds like someone who picked her bridal party way too early! To already be cutting you by the engagement party...

Yeah, honestly I probably wouldn't be attending anything else wedding-related, and especially not the wedding.

This would not be my friend!

Rude! I would totally be bothered if my "friend" did this to me.

I wouldn't have gone to the shower either. And don't go to the wedding.

Actually, reply "yes" to the wedding and then pull a no-show. Make her pay for your plate. I know that's evil, but she deserves it.

Jeeze, I'm impressed by how lightly you handled this situation. I would be upset and embarrassed and honestly would have a hard time continuing to be friends with her. It's acceptable to have uneven sides. If she cared about you that much, she wouldn't do that to you. I find this so incredibly rude. I wouldn't want to be pushed around like that. Have you asked her to be in your wedding party? If I were you, I'd kick her out. But as everyone else is saying, you're incredible for handling it so well.

Why would you go to such a horrible person's shower? If I was invited to the shower of a "friend" who treated me like that, I'd reply with a big FU.

Wait....am I understanding this correctly? You went to her shower not knowing about being dropped as a bridesmaid? You asked her about the BM dress and this "friend" says "yea, about that...i had to cut you?" If that's the case, I would have taken my present and left. What a piece of work....

^^ No, she was kicked out of the wedding party at the engagement party but went to the shower anyway.

Ewww, still rude. Maybe you and the other BM that was kicked out should skip the wedding and go out....

I already expect my sister to bail when the wedding gets closer but I told FH just to prepare his groomsmen because they'll have to share a girl lol

I have been kicked out! My then boyfriend's best friend was getting married and his fiance asked me to be a BM. The guys had been trying to get us to be besties, so I guess that was her way of doing that. I broke up with the guy and she kicked me out. Understandable I guess. I was obviously not invited to anything after that including the wedding itself.

(I shouldn't have been in the party. She did replace me. I had not purchased anything for the wedding. She had gotten me a gift to ask me & I still use it.)

I hope you got her the cheapest set of hand towels you could find as a shower gift. Or perhaps a book on etiquette.

I don't get why people hold on to shitty friendships. She kicks you out of the wedding in front of everyone?? And you still are friends with her.....um nope.

That is one shitty ass friend. I typically would hate to hear someone RSVPing yes to a wedding and then not showing up but I would totally do this to her. Make her pay for your plate. Also if she asks why you didn't attend just say, "Sorry, stuff came up and cuts had to be made."
