Kid friendly & Adult Only combined all inclusive honeymoon??

Along10, on May 1, 2016 at 9:34 AM Posted in Honeymoon 1 18

FH and I have a 16 month old son Smiley smile Both of us have been struggling with the idea of leaving him for 7 days for our honeymoon. We have decided to take him and both sets of our parents with us. We are looking at staying at an all-inclusive resort somewhere tropical (as long as we get an all clear from the pediatrician that the location we pick is okay for our son with all of this horrible Zika stuff). It would be perfect if there is somewhere that is half kid friendly where our son can stay with our parents and half adults only for FH and I. That way we can meet up with our son every day and spend some of the days there with him. We also don't need a daycare as I don't feel comfortable with that in a strange place. He will be with our parents when we are not. Any ideas? Any help is appreciated Smiley smile

ETA: clarification

I'm really not sure but maybe a cruise that provides some sort of day care? That would be my best guess! I don't know of any resort being split between kids and adults. Usually adults only means adults only.

What I'm saying is, both sets of our parents would stay with our son on the side that is kid friendly. And FH and I would stay on the adult only side. We don't want to put him in daycare - definitely not in a strange place on vacation. I was told by my travel agent that there are resorts like this, but at the time we weren't considering it so we didn't ask for specifics. My google searches aren't coming up with much. Maybe we will just do a family friendly all inclusive Smiley smile

We just went to one! Hard Rock Riviera Maya in Mexico has two halves, one all adult, one family friendly. We stayed on the adult only, it was great!

@tjacob2014, this is great! Thank you for the recommendation! Can people staying at the adult only also go to the family friendly side?

I think a cruise would be a good idea. The carnival cruise we went on had a kids day care/activity program. We don't have kids but all the people we talked to about it said it was amazing. Most carnival ships have an adult only section too. I think if you want to go to an adults only you have to let go of the idea of bringing your son. Otherwise look for more family friendly options.

Yes, anyone can basically go anywhere, use any pool or restaurant (the food is really good), the only restriction really is no kids on the adults only side. Otherwise you have free reign.

There are resorts like paradissus that are all inclusive, allow families, but then have a section called "the reserve" that is adults only.

@MNBride, for some strange reason I'm afraid of cruises and don't want to take our son on one until he's older. We also aren't looking for a day care program. We offered to take our parents with us so they will be with our son when we are not. But thank you! I appreciate the response!

@tjacob2014, this was a huge help! Thank you so much!

@Janeen, thank you!! I will look into this as well Smiley smile

Maybe a Disney cruise? They have a daycare and an adults only deck so you get the best of both

Edit: just saw your post above. Cruises are really super awesome but I get it, the first one is always scary Smiley sad

No worries @Heather D! I've heard such great things about cruises. We will definitely go one day, we just want to wait until our son is older. Hopefully I'll get over my fear by then Smiley smile Thank you for your suggestion though! A Disney cruise sounds amazing!

There are a lot of great resorts that offer both a family friendly and adult only section. I have stayed at both Azul Beach and Generations Riviera Maya. They're both fantastic. If your'e traveling with a little one, they have high chairs, bottle wamers, etc. on site, so you don't have to lug all the extras on the plane! And the food is fantastic. A cruise is a good option too. However many of the cruise lines won't take a little one in child care unless they are potty trained.

Most all-inclusive family friendly resorts have an adults-only section, but it usually costs more to stay/use that side of it. I suggest working with a travel agent- there's no cost involved to use them and ours was SO helpful in narrowing down our search and answering all my questions!!

Dreams in Tulum has a part of the resort that is adults only. Some of the other Dreams resorts may offer this as well - not really sure.

Grand Palladium Riviera Maya is a group of all inclusives that could work. They're not adult-only/family only separated, but some suites are adult only and separate from the family suites, so you could be alone, yet be close to baby.

The royal suites turquesa by palladium in punta cana dominican republic is really nice. Esp because as the adults only side you can go to to the other parts but no one can come to your side. Also the rooms have swim up rooms where the pool is right out your back door.
