Kissing Bells

danhan2009, on August 6, 2009 at 4:10 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12

Is anyone else having kissing bells on the tables at the reception? I am at a loss of how to phrase it on the cards to discourage the guests from klinking the glasses the with silverware for the couple to kiss. I absolutely hate that sound and I am always afraid someone will break a glass. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you.

I plan on having kissing bells at each table with a card on the table explaining what the bells are for and that we would prefer if they use the bells! I just got back from my sisters wedding and the clanking drove me CRAZY!! Hope this helps!

I have seen bells that are place card holders. instead of a place card put "kissing bell" with a big lip print on one side and a "to use" on the other. Say something a long the lines of

This is the kiss request line. Start the bell ringing and get other tables to join in. What starts with the sweet sound of bells will end in a beautiful kiss.

Not very poetic I know but you could change it up a bit to sound more romantic.

    Hi ,

I have the placecard holder bells on my website and many other fun ideas. just click into the fab favors link on the webpage bottom at www.suzannemsmithdesigns.com

Contact me for a discount code if you like what you see!

These are a fine quality and make a great favor.

I have had clients tell me that their guests use them each christmas as an ornament . I have one on my desk that I use for a note holder.

And yes they work well as an alternative to the glass clanking! LOL

Our wedding is around Christmas so we'l have jingle bells for people to ring for us to kiss and to usher us off to our honeymoon. Two phrases I've seen (and I'm still looking for others) are "Ring the Bell to Wish the Couple Well" and "Ring for a Kiss"

Here's another phrase: Today, as we gather together, Wish us a love to last forever. If you would like us to share a wedded kiss, ring the bell for lifelong bliss."

I was able to buy alot of new bells from another bride. I am not sure if I am going to use them for the place cards with a sticker on the opposite side stating something along the lines of "ring the bell for the bride and groom to kiss". I plan on getting a DJ and (suggested by another bride) have your DJ announce that the venue would greatly apperciate if the guests DO NOT hit the glassware for the bride and groom to kiss but rather ring the bells attached to their place cards". If you don't have a DJ then one of you can announce it and "blame it on the venue" I mean when you think of it....do you want to be charged for broken glasses? I know I don't. LOL

I personally plan on ignoring any clinking of glasses. If you don't give it to that then they will stop doing it and use the bells.

You could just have your MC announce that in lieu of clanking, you have the bells, I personally, hate bells and clanking and what not, So, guests are going to have to share a memory, poem, love quote, etc.

We are having an hor de vours reception, no asigned seating and no silverwear. As favors we are giving out the placecard holder bells with a card in them explaining the celtic tradition for a couple to recieve a bell as a wedding gift. If they have a disagreement one of them rings it to remind the other of their vows. On the other side the card it explains that this "picture stand" should be kept as a reminder to them of the part that they played in our special day. We are also going to have bells that I have been collecting (antiquey looking ones) place around the room and on some tables with a tag saying "since there is no silverwear to cling, please give this bell a ring"
