Know where to get a cheap bridal belt?

Jessica, on March 18, 2013 at 12:37 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

I just said yes to my dress last week and am looking into the finishing touches. I had tried on a belt in the bridal shop but it was going to cost me $350! I almost died! So I am wondering if anyone knows of a good place to look? The dress has a corset back so I would probably just end the belt/trim before it got to the laces. I also would like it to continue all the way around as apposed to just an applique on a ribbon. I've been looking on etsy with some luck, but was wondering if there was anywhere else I could try? The belt I tried on is perfect, but I can't justify the $350. They wanted to charge me $320 for the veil I liked as well, but I went to JoAnn's and paid $10 for the materials to make the same veil! I just have to bead it myself which shouldn't be too hard for me since I'm pretty crafty and my wedding isn't until May 2014! Anyway.. I'm attatching pics of the dress and belt that I liked for inspiration. Thanks!

Some ladies on here have made their own. If you're sort of crafty, that could be a great option!

I believe not too long ago, I saw someone make one from materials found only at Wal-Mart. I can't seem to remember who was making them, although I really liked the two I remember seeing!

Your dress is beautiful and very similiar to my dress! I also bought a belt for mine, I got my belt at Alfred Angelo (Signature Store) I think it was between $120-$140. I have my first fitting tonight, and I am going to have the seamstress add a clip to my belt so I can just latch it in the back instead of tying a big bow (I also have a corset back) so I am hoping it wont cost too much to get it altered!

    Good luck!

Here is my dress, its kinda hard to see the belt but it gives you a little bit of an idea of what they have! I think you could easily make it for much less, but unfortunately, I am not crafty at all!

Robin: I thought about it, but feel like it might be too much to take on at the moment. But if I can't find what I'm looking for I might take a swing at it! It would be time consuming, but worth it I think! Especially for the price!

Melissa: Thanks for the pic and I love that belt! I agree your dress is similar so I'm sure something like that would look fine on mine too. And $120-$140 is much more reasonable than $350. I'll look into it! Let me know what you find out from the seamstress about the altering! I have a feeling I'm going to run into the same issue.

A bride on here just posted pics the other day of one she made. I hope she posts on here. They would not be hard to make and definately cheaper than the bridal store.

I'd check different sites where you can buy gently used wedding items - attire, ceremony, reception etc. I'm sure someone somewhere is selling a belt.

I've not made a belt but I made my garter. Check craft stores- they have lots of awesome stuff that could easily be stitched onto some pretty ribbon and a latch.

My belt came attached to my $1,150 dress, which mother continues to give me hard time about... go figure, its gorgeous and amazing dress for the money.

OMG I know where you can get one cheap! Its called Shinetrim.com! I was getting appliques for my MOH there soon. The only down side is you might need to buy sating ribbon at the craft store and stick it on there yourself. But they do have several you can use that are completed. They have inexpensive appliques etc. If you nt like any of them, try searching for "beaded applique" or "rhinestone applique" This will get you more results than "Bridal Belt" For a budget. Hope you like it! :-D

I saw a post a few days ago authored by "Nikki 1". She made this sparkling sash in a few hours, and I think she did a great job. Maybe you could contact her and ask her for the particulars.

    Here's the post:

    Thanks for all the suggestions!!

Bee: This is exactly the kind of site I'm looking for!

The Centerpiece Flowers: Thanks for finding the post! I have faith it can be done now! And hers looks so expensive and regal.

I might just buy an applique from shinetrim and build the rest from scratch!

    Decisions decisions..

We sell affordable, crystal rhinestone wedding belts and sashes via ETSY. Our business is EYM Bridal Designs and offer free samples of our ribbon colors so you can match your dress perfectly.

We also sell appliques and trim if you want to buy your own ribbon, or attached the applique directly to your dress.

If you want the rhinestones to go all the way around, we would recommend that you order a yard of trim and add it during your alterations. Its pretty easy/cheap way of doing.
