KWR: Anyone tried herbalife before?

Erika*, on December 11, 2013 at 12:02 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 29

My sister/MOH is doing the herbalife shakes to lose weight before my wedding (completely her choice, I don't care what size she is). I want to lose the 20lbs I've gained in the last year, and she's been pushing for me to try herbalife. She doesn't sell it, she wants to give me some of her shake stuff. I've never tried anything like this before. I've always just ate right and worked out, but lately, I haven't been able to lose anything by doing that. I'm scared to get that kinda help to lose weight. Anyone tried it before? What are your thoughts on it?

I take the protein for after working out. It's soooo tasty that's why I use it. I'm already really small so loosing weight is hard for me. Never really intended on loosing weight really but once I started running. I shed off 10lbs no problem. Now I just have to be careful before I'm considered under weight. If you NEED to loose weight I would honestly suggest running and good old exercise. I've seen people loose weight on herbalife but it didn't stay off, of course.

It's not something I'm interested in but the people I know who've used it have had great results.

Jaimee: thanks! I'm 130lbs and 5' tall. I've done the whole running, watching my calories and food portion thing, but all it did in 4 months was keep me at the same weight!! Lol. Losing weight has always been hard for me because I've always been pretty small. This is the most I've ever weighed, it's hard to get used too. I'm going to keep running though and going to the gym. Maybe I'll do the shake once a day.

Erika - that was exactly my problem too!! I'm 5'2 and was 130lbs. I literally worked out everyday and always eat clean bc I don't eat meat or dairy. I could never loose weight. Once I started training for my marathon it just came off I couldn't believe. Now FH is getting mad bc I'm loosing to much weight.. Meh. I need to accomplish my goal of running a marathon so he needs to deal.

It works because you are replacing a legit meal with a protein shake.. so a lot less calories. You can do the same thing with normal protein powder. I personally wouldn't recommend it as a long term solution.. unless you plan on drinking one or more of your meals per day for the rest of your life...

Jaimee: I will keep running then!! Maybe I should make a marathon my goal, that way it'll be my motivation to keep running.

If you're exercising a lot, its a good idea to measure inches as well as weight.

Megan: no way!! I need to be able to chew my food lol. I think I'll try the shakes in the morning only for a bit, to give me a jump start.

Erika - that's exactly what I had to do Smiley smile haha it's really awesome watching your miles grow and grow when you train too. I went from not even being able to run a mile to running 8 miles nonstop in 6 weeks. It's pretty empowering Smiley smile

Eleanor: I have been, the inches have stayed the same. I'm basically staying the same weight/size, and not getting any bigger or smaller. Kind of like a plateau.

I am currently on the herbalife diet. I have two shakes a day with two healthy snacks and a healthy dinner. In four weeks I have lost 7 pounds. It is easy and pretty tasty! I also work out 4 times a week. I havent felt this good about myself in years. In fact, while writing this a coworker came up to me and said, "looking skinny!"

    Rachel: that's great!!

Edit: is it expensive? My sister is giving me a shake thing. I'm not sure how it works, I think it's a container with several shakes worth of powder.

I'm doing herbalife right now also. I started the second week of November I think. I've lost about 13 lbs so far.

I also replace breakfast and lunch with shakes, have healthy snacks in between and eat dinner.

I'm also drinking the tea and aloe before each shake. It's supposed to help burn calories and with digestive health.

The containers for the shake are 28 meals and are about $30 if I remember.

Vanessa: that price isn't too bad. Are you doing anything else with the shakes? Like working out? My sister said she has another product that is supposed to stop sugar cravings that she adds to her shakes.

I try to work out. At first I was about 4 times a week. I have bad knees so I just use the elliptical for 30 mins (nothing too crazy). I haven't for a week and a half though. I'm starting again today.

I know at my cousins club where they sell all the herbalife products, they add protein to their shakes which are supposed to keep you fuller longer. I don't buy it though, so I don't know how much those are.

Thanks for the information Vanessa!! I'm going to ask my dr about it on Friday because I have health issues, so I don't want anything to interfere. Hope it's safe enough for me so I can try the free one my sister is giving me.
