My sister/MOH is doing the herbalife shakes to lose weight before my wedding (completely her choice, I don't care what size she is). I want to lose the 20lbs I've gained in the last year, and she's been pushing for me to try herbalife. She doesn't sell it, she wants to give me some of her shake...

I want to lose the 20lbs I've gained in the last year, and she's been pushing for me to try herbalife. She doesn't sell it, she wants to give me some of her shake stuff. I've never tried anything like this before. I've always just ate right and worked out, but lately, I haven't been able to lose anything by doing that. I'm scared to get that kinda help to lose weight. Anyone tried it before? What are your thoughts on it?

I'd like to comment (without people biting my head off about "I thought you were leaving")

I did herbalife aff & on for months on end. I highly recommend it to anyone who is good sticking to programs, resisting junk food temptation, and has a good pocketbook. It really does work, if you do it right. I stopped, for a few good reasons. I used to take a shake in the morning, but after a few months it was literally making me sick, I needed a real wholesome breakfast, not a liquid one. Working as a massage therapist, the shake for lunch just wasnt enough to keep my energy for more clients. And trying the shake for dinner, it really sucked cooking for FH while I had a drink. I know those all sound like excuses, but for my lifestyle, it just wasnt working. Not to mention, it is expensive. Other than that, it is really healthy. And there's more than just the shakes, which they have a wonderful selection of tasty ones. The vitamins are one of the best selections out there. And the

Support you get from the groups, is amazing.

It's worth a try, but nothing beats good ol' exercise and watching food selection/portions. Also, in all reality, it's just like any other diet program out there, once you stop it, you may gain some of the weight back.

So IMO, it's got pros & cons, you just have to figure out if it's gonna work for your lifestyle and your weight loss goals.

Iris: Thanks! When you put it that way, I don't think it'll fit my lifestyle. I work with kids and I need all the energy I can get. Shakes probably won't do it for me. Especially dinner time. I hated when I had to cook 2 meals when I was eating healthy, and FH still wanted crap food. It was the worst. I wanted the crap food lol. I think I'll try the free can of shake stuff my sister is giving me and see how it goes.

Well they also have supplements that help with energy levels, although you only want to take them in the morning or noon. Take them at night, and you'll never sleep!!! Lol but I'm also terrible at taking pills on a daily basis... Anyway, overall it's a really healthy system, it just takes alot of discipline, I suppose alot of diets do.

Yeah they do, a lot of discipline. I guess my biggest concern is how healthy it is.

I am going to try it. I've seen a friend lose 50 pounds within 6 months. She had to workout but nothing harcore. I am a believer. She sells it for $180 & that's supposed to last you for about 3 months.

I've been using Herbalife for maybe two years now and I do love the stuff, but I do kind of find their way of business a little dodgy sometimes. It may just be the particular experiences I had and maybe not everyone will have this problem though. Anyway, you pretty much have to buy Herbalife products from a Herbalife distributor (not a store or online) and, from my experience, those distributors get pushy about buying all this other stuff that you don't need/want (because they do make a cut).

My friend is a distributor and he gets the products for 30% less than he sells it to other people (that's where his profit comes form) and that is supposedly customary.

But, when I started using Herbalife 2 years ago, I lost a good 10 lbs. The company's way of business doesn't work for me...but the products certainly do.

I probably won't buy more than the free tub my sister is giving me lol. I don't have the money for it with saving for the wedding.
