We've just been invited to a Catholic baptism for a baby girl in New Jersey. We plan on going. They're FH's relatives and I haven't met them yet. Since they're family they have been invited to our wedding so I'm excited to get to know them. I've actually never been invited to a baptism as an adult....

I've actually never been invited to a baptism as an adult. Is a monetary gift standard or no? Like at a wedding? We received a paper invitation with a request to rsvp. I'm totally ready to give money but am asking just in case a monetary gift is unusual or inappropriate?

What would you give? How much?

Thanks!

I always do money for a baptism. It helps start a savings account for the baby.

I agree with the other PPs in the northeast money is the norm. I've been to many baptisms including where I have been Godmother and from my experience usually everyone just gives a card besides maybe the Godparents who may give something such as a rosary beads.
